It did happen under a Republican president. Eleven (11) times to be exact. I remember all the congressional hearings led by the Democrats and all the cries for those in charge to be fired....oh wait...no I can't. Because it didn't happen. Only the Republicans would use something like this to try and use it for their political gain.

I didn't say anything about Watergate. I thought this thread was about the attack on our embassy in Benghazi. You know, the attack that Republicans have spent months trying to use to their political advantage. All the while acting as if this has never happened before. None of the last 11 attacks that happened under Bush mean a thing...just this one. We know what would have happened if Benghazi had occured while a Republican was in office. Nothing. S#%t happens and most reasonable people understand that in a war torn country our embassies are subject to being attacked. Only now, the Republicans want to act as if this has never happened before.

American's have the right to the truth.  

Oh, never mind why security was withdrawn despite pleas to the contrary.  Why in extremis forces weren't notified.  If, as reported, CIA received orders not to help the consulate.  Why rescued were checked in military hospital under assumed names.  No, just sweep it under the rug. Just like all the deaths in Watergate. Oh, right!

another "witch hunt" . sponsored by the republicans. another distraction away from their real duties. another attempt at "slamming the democrats". all under the guise of "people need to know the truth". but, not one word about how many times some similar situation has happened in the past 12 years. real world facts make little/no difference to the republicans. only how can they gain control from the democrats. and 'armed revolution' isn't out of the picture.. according to about half of them.

How much information do we have on all the embassy attacks that came before Benghazi? Do you remember them? Were they all over the news, did the President go on tv and announce it and give information about the terrorist groups that attacked us? Did we demand to know what security measures were taken or insist that it must have been a failure of our government to not protect the embassy? No, none of those things happened. You guys want to gloss over the apples to apples comparison of embassy attacks and instead bring up a completely unrelated event in our history that happened 40 years ago.

Also, I assume there are lots of things that we Americans don't know about what our government does. It's been that way my whole life. Since when did our President get on public tv and start broadcasting our secret intelligence information and our investigations? Are you really that dense when it comes to foreign intelligence secrets? Ever heard the terms "top secret" or "classified"? Are these things new to you guys or something? LOL

Whose fault is it that we were attacked on our own soil on 9/11? Do we blame Bush and his administration? Any attempt to even question what intelligence the WH had leading up to the attack was harshly criticized by the Republicans and labeled unpatriotic. My, my how the tables have turned...

Not much of a 'WITCH HUNT' when the witch is readily available.

We know for certain Ann Rice repeated a known lie on 5 Sunday TV news shows, when the truth was know,  Why and to what end is the question,  I could surmise, but will await the hearings.  Democrats would not protest so strongly unless they fear something -- squealing pig under the gate.
