I am deeply offended by this remark. I know that SLICE is trying to stir up trouble because they are bored but this is a lie. I am a COC member and I have never once heard this said. I have however been ridiculed by other churches. (Baptist, Methodist) If anyone says "if you aren't a Church of Christ member then you are going to hades", then they haven't been reading their Bible. JUDGE NOT LEST YE BE JUDGED.

Beautifully written, Joy. You know, it's so funny that people in general feel that by being a Christian, you are missing out on something in this life, or not enjoying it to the fullest. I have found the opposite to be true.
I have found that faith in God, and in His Son has opened up a whole new world, of mystery and beauty. It's a blessing, really, to know that we have a Father in Heaven with us. And what could we be missing? Nothing that I know of...
And it's really not about fear either.
It's more comfort than fear, love than lacking, and strength when we are weak. (which is pretty much all the time.)
If there is something that I am "missing" by being a Christian, I guess it's not important enough to feel any loss whatsoever.

I can now officially diagnose Bill with bipolar disorder, possible multiple personalities, and maybe some schizophrenia. Just two threads over he is condemning VP to hell for being Catholic.

Oh yeah, and I forgot about my CofC relatives who wouldn't participate in family worship during a summer vacation....just some praise courses, prayer and Bible reading. They got up, dressed up and drove 30 miles to the nearest CofC.

There may be something to Slice's statement.
Doesn't the Church of Christ preach baptismal regeneration and you have to be baptised by a Church of Christ preacher? Like, if one transfers from, say, a Baptist church, I think the person has to be re-baptised.

I am reminded of the little school yard coward who stands way behind the crowd shouting, "Yeah, he did it! Hit him! Hit him!"
And, then when someone confronts little school yard coward, he wets his pants, and runs home, crying for mommy. Just a thought!
God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,
Bill

Tru,
Good point. I never asked since I only saw them once a year, but you're probably right.
GL
I'm gonna guess they wanted to take communion on the Lord's Day. Did you have it there?

Not at all true, but the Bible teaches, as we see it, baptism for remission of sins. Its my understanding the Freewill Baptist teach this, but I'm not sure. If you're baptized first "because" of remission of sins, yes, you would be rebaptized. It certainly doesn't have to be a preacher who baptizes you.
