"SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (CBS) — Illinois keeps falling farther behind on its debt.
As WBBM Newsradio’s Regine Schlesinger reports, officially, the state has a backlog of more than $4.25 billion in unpaid bills.

But Illinois State Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka says when one factors in other bills, the figure is closer to around $8.5 billion.
Those other outstanding bills include tax refunds, employee health insurance, and bills that have not yet reached her desk.  Topinka says this is extremely disappointing, since a year ago, the state sharply increased income taxes (by 67 percent) and corporate taxes.
“After the largest tax hike in our history, the state continues to be in this precarious fiscal position with persistent payment delays, and frankly, the situation is unlikely to significantly improve in the near term,” she said.
Some state officials say the solution is more borrowing to pay the bills, but Topinka says the solution is to cut spending."

No matter how much you give them, it isn't enough.  Illinois is fast joining Michigan as an one powerful, rich state laid low by the Dems.  Chicago follows Detroit and the other cities subject to Dem rule for decades.  How's Birmingham, Rocky!

I thought AlObama had low taxes?

Facing one of the biggest budget shortfalls of any state, Illinois took the risky step of jacking up income and corporate taxes even as its economy struggles to shake off the recession.

In a deal hammered out by the state's Democratic leadership, the lame-duck legislature pushed through a 67% increase in the state income tax and a 45% increase in the corporate tax.

The new income-tax rate would add about $1,040 to the tax bill of a family of four earning $60,000 a year, and the new corporate rate would move the state into the top 10 among corporate taxers nationally.

Chicago politics control the entire state of Illinois, and if you look you should see why if you tax everyone outside Chicago to give it to the citizen of Chicago there will be a problem paying your bills.

Still confused, sweetheart?

Speaking of food, I'm flying to Atlanta today to see a play and after the glowing reviews of BLT Steak, I'm going there for dinner.  I'm getting the strip though, instead of the $28burger.

Illinois raised taxes revenues spiked and are forecast to spike by double the 2011 amount in FY2012.  But, surprisingly, the tax hikes revert back in 2015:

The tax rates are scheduled to drop in 2015. The personal income is scheduled to decrease to 3.75 percent, while the corporate rate is supposed to drop to 5.25 percent.

Illinois will once again have lower income tax rates than AlObama.

That is an eye opener to me since my family still owns a large farm about 100 miles from Chicago.

The Dems in Illinois compromised with the Repubics to only raise the rates temporarily to decrease the deficit.  That what responsible adults do, they solve problems.

They will never revert their taxes back because all of their tax base is moving to the south, including to the great state of Alabama.
