Perhaps this is a man/woman thing. I do not believe you girls really understand a man's mind. If you did, you would probably cover your girls from head to toe. This is probably why you almost never see a daddy buying these kinds of costumes

Most of us men must consciously block our naturally perverted (or violent) selves from thinking "evil" thoughts. Like you girls, we have bad thoughts on various topics form time to time and, like you girls, are able to control those thoughts and not act on them most of the time. But unlike you girls, there are a lot more of us men that cannot or will no control those urges.

So, if you mommies enjoy the thought of what may pass through the mind of an old man when he sees your little girl dressed as a prostitot, then I guess there's not a damm thing I can tell you. But if you find that as disturbing as I would if I had a daughter, I urge you to dress your daughters appropriately.

For gosh sakes please don't hold them out as prostitutes and pass it off as being "cute." We do not live in innocent times any more. It's not cute. It's scary.

GoFish,

I am not a girl. I am a woman. But other than that, I think we are on the exact same page.

1. No, I didn't take her to see The Chronicles of Narnia but I did give her the complete set (books, not movies) for a birthday gift.
2. The schools... I wish I could put her back in a school in Dekalb County, GA where they wore uniforms. Since that is not an option, she wears modest and decent clothes to school here in AL.

Again, saying "I've seen worse" does not make it better.

See? I was perfectly within my rights to question GoFish. Even he has stated here that it can be a problem to not get turned on by 8 year old girls wearing titillating and lascivious clothing. Like tights. Or miniskirts. Or HALLOWEEN costumes. Obviously we should teach our daughters that the pedophiles win. And they should be scared and shamed enough to not risk being a belly dancer, or a witch in a miniskirt when they are 8 years old.

That's not it at all, immolate99 . In simple terms: if you dress like a *****, you'll be looked at like a ***** and treated like a *****. It does not matter if a girl is 8 or 18. It has nothing to do with letting pedophiles or perverts "win". It has to do with not playing the game in the first place.

Exactly. Except we are talking about HALLOWEEN costumes. You know who else thought showing modest amounts of skin = *****? The mother in the movie Carrie. She was such an extremist her daughter killed her. Good movie though.

That is just insane.

I have two kids. I hate, absolutely positively, passionately hate a freaking child molester. I hate them even more than I hate rapists and murderers. Why in the HELL would you accuse me of being a pervert because I speak out against it those sick bastards? Seriously, that is just stupid.

Yes, I got quite pissed at the dancers at the mall. It still pisses me off to this day. It was quite disturbing to glimpse 7, 8, 9 year old girls imitate moves that I've seen in strip clubs and on BET. Yeah, I quite enjoy those moves on adult women. It is sickening to see little girls do it. If you don't understand that then you are a freaking wacko. Seriously, I cannot fathom how a mommy would actually defend the right of her child to dress like a ***** and dance like a stripper. These are crazy times we live in.

As far as this thread, I'm actually plagiarizing Glenn Beck just a little. He did a show on this subject last night. His passion (he has two daughters) for the subject mirrors my own and I thought it would be a good subject for the forum.
I'm on your side then. (The side against child molesters.) I still don't think you are sending the right message to little girls when you tell them NO mini skirts on Halloween and "lewd" dancing then frequent strip clubs. I KNOW you are an adult but to me it still sounds hypocritical. ONCE AGAIN, that's my opinion! I still fail to see where those three little girls look like pedophile bait or hookers on Page 1 of the Forum. Dirty Dancing, Miniskirts, on an average day, no way! But it's Halloween, your little girl wants to be a witch in a miniskirt for the Love of Pete let her and don't make her feel bad for it. At least look at it this way: she can't trip and fall underneath a passing car when she is trick or treating wearing a shorter skirt than the traditional long one! I would be more concerned about some sicko trying to poison my child than grabbing her up with me standing right there on Halloween because he couldn't resist his desire for an 8 year old witch in fishnets!

Pedophiles/sickos......something "clicks" in their brain that drives them to do the things they do. Once the switch is flipped it's like an addict that can only think of getting a fix. The craving doesn't go away until it is satified.
You may be standing with your 8 year old witch in fishnets and protecting her from the nutcase, but if he sees her dressed that way and it flips his switch the next unprotected child to come along just might have to pay the price.

DF,

I would hope there's a middle ground between that and the commercialization of sexualized 'witchy' Halloween costumes marketed to 10 year-old girls.

nope, not at all :P

But seriously, there's a reason they sell these costumes. People buy them. And you can bet it's not the parents who are pushing them onto the little girls. I'll bet the girls wail and scream for them.

Remember, they'll be listening to Britney and Courtney on their iPods while out Trick or Treating.

(omg, did I say "trick")

I thought I was supposed to be the neanderthal..feminism, conservatism, paranoia, over a Halloween costume skirt. It's like Salem around here! Except the kids are being punished for the idea that some sicko might look at them the SAME way they would be looked at on a NORMAL day, dressed NORMALLY. Pedophilia exists every day. Freaking out over a miniskirt on a Halloween costume isn't going to protect your child. Staying with your child on Halloween and making sure they are safe is the only surefire way to protect them. DON'T let your kids go to the mall and pole dance. Don't let your child wear sexy outfits to school on a NORMAL day that will make people think your ten year old is an upcoming tramp, or on her way to entertaining Gofish at the strip club. But on Halloween if your little girl wants to be a genie don't make her feel guilty for showing her belly because your ideas of her costume contributing to her being highly sexualized are way overboard. There is a big difference between dressing up for Halloween and dressing everyday. Neither makes them safe from pedophiles, but reasonable limitations are fair on Halloween costumes. Calling a child's costume inappropriate when it consists of a short skirt is ridiculous. I saw a baby with her dress and matching panties hanging out the bottom, does that make her trampy? Because she's showing alot more skin than those Halloween costumes shown here. NO! It doesn't matter what your child wears, or if it's Halloween. Clothing isn't tempting pedophiles-being a child IS the temptation! I'm done. I hope your kids enjoy being nuns or Amish kids for Halloween if that makes you feel better. Just remember: Watch out for your children, to the pedophile they are still the treat on Halloween regardless of costume choice.
"... Except the kids are being punished for the idea that some sicko might look at them the SAME way they would be looked at on a NORMAL day, dressed NORMALLY."

Punished? Just how is it punishment? Looking out for a child's best interest and wanting to keep them safe is NOT punishment.
And on a normal day children are not going door to door....

"Pedophilia exists every day. Freaking out over a miniskirt on a Halloween costume isn't going to protect your child. Staying with your child on Halloween and making sure they are safe is the only surefire way to protect them."

You're right a good parent stays with their child. Being with your child when she's dressed in a short skirt or showing her tummy will protect your child, but it won't stop the sicko from getting ideas and cravings. And while your child may be safe, what about the next child or the next? Being a good parent means not only looking out for your child, but also for other children.

" DON'T let your kids go to the mall and pole dance. That is when a parent is supposed to realize they ARE the parent and say "No, you're not wearing that because i don't think it's suitable." How would that make her feel guilty? She might get mad, but children always get mad when told "no." They get over it.

"...It doesn't matter what your child wears, or if it's Halloween. Clothing isn't tempting pedophiles-being a child IS the temptation!"

There are many that are turned on by the combination of the two...There have been numerous news stories of pedophiles that dress there victims in grown-up outfits. That was a lot of the hoopla that surrounded the JBR case years ago....little girls dressed in grown up outfits brings sickos out of the woodwork.

"I'm done. I hope your kids enjoy being nuns or Amish kids for Halloween if that makes you feel better."

It makes a lot of parents feel better and the kids, believe it or not, have just as much fun. In the end they just care about the candy.

"Just remember: Watch out for your children, to the pedophile they are still the treat on Halloween regardless of costume choice."

THAT i wholeheartedly agree with!
Whew. It's frightening to me to think a mother of young girls doesn't see anything wrong with the poses or dress of the young models pictured here. They are suggestive and provocative.

I showed these pictures to my 17 year old son. He said there was "NO WAY" he would let his little girl (if he had one) wear them.

I AM NOT A PRUDE, BUT Like Go Fish, I've seen suggestive dances at children's performances. They make me very uncomfortable. And some of the costumes dance instructors choose for little girls to wear to recitals are totally age inappropriate.

Wake up. Let children be children. There will be plenty of time for them to dress like adults and act like adults when they are adults.
In my experience, the mothers who allow or encourage their daughters to wear sexy clothes or costumes, or wear tons of makeup, are usually unattractive themselves and are trying to live through their daughters. It's sad.

Look at that John Mark Karr fellow. Many pedophiles, like him, believe that the children they molest want it and ask for it, and when they see girls wearing ****ty clothes, it encourages them and helps them justify their actions to themselves.

I sooooooooooooo agree with you!!!! There are SO many costumes out there that people can allow their kids to look like so as NOT to draw attention to them in a bad way.

NOT to say anyone has a young daughter that is bad, it is just that perverts think the young ones are dressing for THEM, that is their mind-set. And it isn't just girls either, it goes for boys too!!!!

Dress your children the way you DON'T want molesters to look at them!!

Such anger!!! Wow, one would think you were talking on behalf of some sicko's out there! Sorry, I am not judging you, just your comment.

What PUF and the others said is TRUE. Pedophiles come out on Halloween night to SEE the smorgasboard for them. You offer fish stockings and tummy, and like PUF said, the NEXT child might have to GIVE what YOU offered.

Nope, I agree with the others.
Once again: My opinion was ONLY of the skirt shown here. It is ridiculous that everyone is freaking out because I didn't agree with them about that skirt. I am also of the opinion that calling kids tramps for wearing it on Halloween is ridiculous. Still, my right to my own opinion. Like I said: Just remember: Watch out for your children, to the pedophile they are still the treat on Halloween regardless of costume choice or whether it's a holiday. Now we are all in agreement. Peace!
It's HALLLOWEEN. It's a holiday where children (as well as adults) dress up and pretend to be something they are not. I dressed as a fairy. Does that mean I am going to become one? What about the guy dressed as a pirate? Do all of you think that he REALLY is a pirate?
I grew up with a parent that wanted to tell me that I couldn't wear anything above the knee or below the collarbone. Newsflash-I did anyway. Except that my mother had no idea and had no way of EDUCATING me about the dangers of dirty old men.
I am really sad for all of the children who are not allowed to express themselves. You all are the ones "living through" your children.

Are you resorting to name calling???
I meant that post to reflect on the first post by Go Fish.
And no this conversation is not over my head. It hits me about ankle high and it's stupid!!!
That is okay to judge my comment, I don't mind at all Smiler

But let me tell you one thing, I raised kids, and I NEVER did let them go out of the house looking like hookers or pimps, and they never got in any sort of SEXUAL trouble either.

Times have changed, NOW there ARE pedophiles every turn we make. If I protected my kids way back BEFORE we knew where any pedophile was and didn't allow them to reveal theirselves in an imappropiate way, then you are darn tooting I will DEFEND any child today for parents who have that "DON'T CARE" attitude.

It's HALLOWEEN, time to have fun. BS!!! It only takes ONE SINGLE NIGHT for a pedophile to make a target, and rob a child of its life and innocence.

Then when it happens, the ignorant choose to run around hollering, WHY DID THAT HAPPEN TO MY KID????

Roll Eyes
All it takes is one parent not doing their job to have their child taken from them....

And in response, No, I am not a child. But everyone was going on and on AND ON about people think thinking these children where "****s" because of their outfits supposedly reflected that. I was pointing out that you are not what you are dressed up as on HALLOWEEN!!

Smiler I just hope AND PRAY that people take care of their children, there are too many predators in the world in this day and time for comfort!!

Best friends huh???? I may have to say that the skirt on the front page is cool so we can really be best friends, Big Grin

To be honest with you though, it wasn't the pictures on the front page that got me upset, it was some of the comments that did. TSC did a great job posting the pics so that all three TOLD THEIR OWN UNIQUE STORY, she is good at that Smiler

There may have always been pedophiles. I am not going to argue that. But do you realize HOW LUCKY today's parents are to be able to KNOW where these spawns live????

You, my friend, need to look around you and be plenty careful because NOT allowing a little kid look like a hooker or pimp IS EDUCATION.

Or what would YOUR idea of education be then???? How many children do you have?
