Can this be justified?

If you gave the bottom earners a millions dollars each today, within a year or two almost every one would be stone broke again.  They are on the bottom for a reason, and it has nothing to do with someone else's net worth.

Most of the poorest of the poor live in kleptocracies where its impossible to improve one's condition. JT, should we invade, overthrow the governments and start nation building!

Pay a livable wage. Show loyalty. If you are the worker, show loyalty to the company, if you are the company, show loyalty to the worker. It used to be that way.

I sure do miss the days where everybody made the same and nobody was poor.

Funny. I remember when people had jobs and made pretty good livings. Now we have all these 'progressive ideas' being spouted and put into action, and there are barely any jobs, and the ones there are, are expected to pay about three times more than the job is worth. Gee jt, what happened? You always want someone else to explain something, why don't you explain that one?

What year was that? That's your post that said that, not mine. I do remember people staying with one company til they retired.

I remember when no one considered fast food a career no one would consider having a family until they were established.

You mean when doctors and janitors made the same thing?

The jobs that are available are expected to pay 3 times what they are worth?? Please put some numbers on that.

I sure do miss the days where everybody made the same and nobody was poor.

You will have to ask Mr Hooberbloob about that. He's the one who posted that statement about everbody making the same. I don't ever remember that.

One reply did not favor the 67 having as much wealth as the bottom 3.5 million. I think I typed that wrong, I think it's supposed to be billion.

While hunting that again, I couldn't find it, but did find that 99.9% of the worlds population has 19% of the wealth. That means one tenth of 1% has 81% of the wealth. If you happen to be one of the .1, you probably think thats a good idea.

Why would they think it's a good idea? Your way of thinking is fascinating. Well, what you consider thinking that is. Do you really think millionaires/billionaires don't want other millionaires/billionaires in the world? Are you saying they want to be rich and want everyone else to be poor?

A lot of really rich people share their wealth. It may be for tax breaks but I think there are people who use their money for good things, are really good people. Danny Thomas comes to mind. A man who used his wealth and fame to help others with St Jude's hospital.

We are not wealthy, in a money sense, but had good educations, good jobs and we scrimped and saved-- don't try to keep up with the Jones. We have had friends who acted like " you have it, I don't so give me some of yours". While we try to help others it's not our fault that others didn't manage their money well. How much money do we "owe" others? How much money do millionaires owe others?

______________

I'm not wealthy, but I do find your math richly interesting.

This week a Picasso painting sold for something like $186 million! Who has that kind of money?! To spend on a painting! But someone does, it's their money and they can do with it what they want. If I had that kind of money I think I'd be using it to help the world in a better way but that is something I will never have to worry about.

Are those people happier than me? Money doesn't solve all your problems.

That was my point--- If you make more than Joe Smo do you owe Joe Smo and why should you give him some of yours?

Are you asking me? As for how much he has I don't know. Didn't say I did. I said there are people who would consider him rich. I posted that based on previous discussions with him and posts he has made.
