Here's another one about which we can ask...."why is she still in office"?

An intern for Houston-based Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee made his first court appearance Thursday.

Jackson Cosko is accused of posting private information of several Republican U.S. senators on Wikipedia.

Authorities say he published that information during the controversial Brett Kavanaugh hearings last week.

Jackson Lee said that intern in her D.C. office is now a former intern. He was fired as soon as she found out he was facing charges.

"Our office, our permanent staff, had nothing to do with this behavior and we condemn it," said the congresswoman. Investigators say Cosko posted five senators' home addresses and personal cell phone numbers online.

Cosko allegedly shared that private information on the day Supreme Court nominee Kavanagh and his accuser Christine Blasey Ford testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee. "This is a sad, unfortunate act, and it is a criminal act and it shouldn't be condoned," said Jackson Lee.

The congresswoman says her office is popular with interns and its doors will stay open as long as they obey the law.

Capitol Hill is famous for its demanding, insensitive bosses. Yet even by the harsh standards of Congress, Sheila Jackson Lee stands out. She may be the worst boss in Washington. “It’s like being an Iraq War veteran,” says someone who worked for her. Strangers may say, “‘oh I know what you’ve been through.’ No, you really don’t. Because until you’ve experienced it…. People don’t tell the worst of the stories, because they’re really unbelievable.”

For some, a job in Jackson Lee’s office proved not just emotionally but physically perilous. One staffer recalls a frank conversation with his doctor, who told him he needed to quit. “It’s your life or your job,” the doctor told him, warning that the stress and long hours were wreaking havoc on his body.

Only a few on staff fought back. One of Jackson Lee’s drivers became so frustrated with her abuse the person pulled the car over and demand she stop: “She’s screaming and swearing. ‘M.F.’ everything. Finally I slammed on the brakes and told her to get the hell out of my car. I’m like ‘I can’t drive with you like this. Either get out, or you can calm down.’ And she’s like ‘you need to go or get fired.’ I’m like, ‘that’s fine. But I’m either leaving without you or you can calm down,’” the staffer said.

Jackson Lee then threatened to call the police and claim she was being held hostage in the car. But she finally did calm down when the staffer called her bluff, offering to flag down a Capitol Police officer to explain the situation. “I am a queen, and I demand to be treated like a queen,” Jackson Lee once said, and apparently she wasn’t kidding. Her employees describe waiting for their boss for hours on end, sometimes late into the night, while she attends events or even sits in her office watching TV.

Jackson Lee again named 'meanest' Congress member

If you pay attention to local politics long enough, you'll no doubt hear the phrase: "I've never heard of a camera that Sheila Jackson Lee didn't love."

Still, it's likely the Democratic representative isn't enjoying this kind of spotlight: The Washingtonian has again awarded Jackson Lee, D-Houston, the position of meanest Congress member among Democrats.

The "award" is part of the magazine's biennial survey "The Best & Worst of Congress." The survey allows congressional employees to anonymously rate their bosses on the Hill.

For Jackson Lee, it's not the first time she's won the "meanest" title. These wins might have something to do with this: An analysis done by they Houston Chronicle  in 2011 revealed the congresswoman had the highest turnover among staff in the Houston delegation over the past decade.

Houston delegation over the past decade.

Former Houston Chronicle columnist Rick Casey spoke to several former aides to Jackson Lee who all spoke of her erratic and abusive behavior in the workplace. Among the weird stories was one that involved her constituents' funerals.

"One job of aides is to cull the obituaries," Casey wrote. "One told friends of taking her to five funerals in one day, and of hating to have to ask the families if they would allow her to speak."

Other staff have also come forward to the Houston Press and the Daily Caller with similar and not-so-similar stories of the congresswoman's behavior.

Her supporters say those who've filtered out of her office simply did not meet the standards expected of them on Capitol Hill. In a statement made in response to our 2011 analysis, Jackson Lee's office said staff members work hard and have fun.

"Further, I am delighted for the new opportunities my staff has been able to secure after their service in our office," she said in the statement.
