I would be remiss for not recognizing the fact that, 10 years ago today, 2998 people were murdered in the name of fundamentalist religion. The last words repeated by some of the hijackers that spoke over the radio was "God is good!" They truly believed they would enter paradise where they would be greeted by 72 virgins would would attend to them for eternity.
This religious fervor is very much like the same fundamentalist hatred we see here in this forum and across this nation. The same kind of fundamentalist reasonaing causes people to hate those who do not believe exactly what their holy books tells them to believe. Those of us who employ rational thinking and call BS on every one of those holy books are the most distrusted and hated people in the nation. And the sheeple wonder why we seem so angry.
9-11 was the beginning of the end of my religious faith that I had held so dear for so long. It was a wake up call to all believers to embrace that bit of doubt we all have at the core - even if we hide that doubt from ourselves.
"Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar!" were the last sounds heard from Flight 93.
"God is Good! God is Good! God is Good!"
