I wonder if the Obama State Department has had enough of a warning to provide protection and escape plans to the Embassy and it's personnel in Iraq? Or are they waiting on an intelligence report and a legal opinion from the DOJ? Or maybe a YouTube video to sort things out first. I am sure the excuse machine is being started up as a preventative measure and they will probably bring back Jay Carney to be the spokesman.

The U.S. embassy in Baghdad is an armed fortress.  It is larger in acreage than Vatican City and it is protected by just about every conceivable method.  It had better be if we are to continue an embassy presence there during and after the civil war that is now under way in Iraq.

History will identify the Iraq war as second only to Vietnam in the catalog of military misadventures this country has gotten itself unnecessarily entrapped into.
