Iraq war vets come home to find their jobs gone

Last week we learned that many of our disabled Iraq-war veterans are being shafted by the military and medical bureaucracy. Now we find out that some reservists and members of the National Guard are returning home to find their jobs gone.

I think that MOST places that the Veterans worked DID hold their jobs for them. I think what we are having a problem with is the very young, who joined out of Patriotism and come home and find it difficult to GET a job. That is 2 different scenarios... If they didn't have a job, or a menial job then maybe it isn't held, and probably a good thing. I think that the VA is working with Vets to help them get gainfully employed IF they are able.

If they have to go to Walter Reed first, then no one knows the outcome of that.
After reading your article, and out of the many many members of the 115th Battallion that I know personally, they all went back to their jobs, and a couple of them got even better jobs, and I know of one that went to college to better himself...

I think the article is a little on the side of the Veterans that didn't have too good of a job to start with, so they did National Guard on the side for extra money... and if that is the case, then they will probably be better off in the long run themselves.

Or that is what I HOPE will happen.

K.S., You're right! do you remember the G.I.BILL? many come home from the war at that time and went to school on the G.I. bill.I don't think we have a G.I. bill anymore, but I may be wrong.
Yes, the GI Bill is intact, and our Troops can and should take full advantage of it, if the jobs they left were not what they need for their families.

They put their lives on the line for what they are ordered to do and they deserve ALL that is available to them to better themselves mentally as well as financially.

PBA: ENOUGH ALREADY! Who do you think you are the AP wire? You have clogged this board with newstories like you were Walter Cronkite himself. I don't know about everyone else, I vowed to ignore you but this is getting to the point of ridiculous! GO TO A NATIONAL BOARD AND LEAVE THIS ONE ALONE! There are plenty out there. You obviously don't know or don't care what is happening in the Shoals area and I for one will tell what I know A LOT of posters are wishing, that you would disappear! THE DOG
