The hamsters replaced two very robust squirrels. Unfortunately, they were not up to the task either. May they rest in peace.

I wonder if you are giving feedback like, "this site is slower than usual, and you might want to look into it," or if you are just griping about something that is provided to you free of charge. I can't tell.

On your high horse today huh ? Roll Eyes
"TD website Hamster Powered!"

Yes, Charlotte... it's true.

When the Powers That Be (PTB) fired the two guys that KNEW what they were doing, and hired an ignorant little new-college grad little girl, that was the beginning of the end.

For them, it was a money-making proposition. Pay two guys $150,000/yr or one girl $40k/yr (or under).

Hmmm... if money's all you care about, it's a no-brainer.

And here's your results!

Proof of the pudding is in the eating.

Enjoy!

Admins, take note: of all the sites I access routinely, this is the slowest-loading one. Doesn't matter what computer or speed of access I have, it's still slow.

I agree, this is the slowest site I check everyday. CNN.com is like changing channels on a TV, instant, TD.com is like waiting for your old satellite receiver to rotate to the correct position to get that certain channel. I actually called them one time, and they blamed it on my end, funny everything else is fast.

HOLD IT FOLKS! THE WORLD IS IN TROUBLE!

I actually agree with everything Crusty has said. See, Crusty, I knew you and I could be Friends.

Isn't it funny that it is only the new folks who are complaining? Personally, I find the web site slow also -- but, I am grateful to TimesDaily for providing it for us.

Keep in your mind: The Price Is Right! It is FREE! So, if there is a wee bit of drag once in a while -- relax, go get a cup of coffee or a cup of tea -- and, by the time you come back, voila! -- there it is.

If we were paying TimesDaily to provide us with an online newspaper or the Forum -- then, we could complain. But, hey, it is free. So, enjoy it, join in our lovely little agreements and a few disagreements -- and let's all have fun.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Bill, you are soooo correct. We shouldn't complain about something that is free. That is why my message is to to advertisers on this website. The site is so slow to load, I don't access this website 1/2 as much as I would otherwise. Maybe if you are an advertiser, you should complain since you are paying for it. Unfortunately, as a user of this site, I don't have the right to complain, so you will have to do it for me.

No, Smooth, I am just a reader and Forum poster like you. But, I do appreciate the fact that the TimesDaily makes the Forum available to us. Many newspapers do not. So, why complain about a free ride?

And, I hate the pop-up ads as much as everyone else -- but, I guess that is the price we pay for this privilege.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Bill, the reason I feel the right to complain is it's not a free ride. I am a consumer of their product that is paid for by advertisers. The Times Daily does not offer this for free. As a potential consumer of an advertisers product, I am indirectly paying for this forum. I know that sounds kinda screwy, but that is how the advertising game works. I am equally amazed at how people will pay extra to have a company's logo on their apparell, when by all rights the company should pay them to advertise their product. It's an amazing society we live in. Don't forget Bill. You are more than just a reader or poster, you are a consumer. I don't think we should call up the Times Daily and explode or anything like that, but we DO have the right to complain!
I believe the whole problem is adx.timesdaily.com.
I complained about it before.
I am not sure, as I'm no computer geek, but I believe that they are reading the cookie and trying to figure out what different add to send .
Unless I am posting or changing subjects, I have found out that by clicking the back page arrow, it runs faster than by using the navigator tabs on the site.

Actually, you are wrong there Bill -- it isn't just new people complaining. We old people complain too but we've learned that unless it's something the Mods think is important -- those complaints are ignored. Free or not, when something is offered it benefits the provider if the service works properly -- otherwise, people tend to stop coming to the site because it is too much of a hassle. Their reputation is behind this just as much as their money is providing it.

Excell -- I have found the same thing -- I use my back button and it's history to get around a lot faster...

From looking at the '''join''' dates of everyone above you,,, they have been here longer or almost as long as you!.... why did you make that comment?..... that sounded mean.....

It is not "free." The TD receives ample revenue from advertising. We are the consumers. If we are not happy, we will not buy form the advertisers the the TD won't receive any ad revenue.

Yes, the forums are abysmally slow but so is the regular TD website. In addition to all that, the "search" function has never worked well and has been severely broken for weeks now.

Seriously, just try to find anything on the upcoming local elections. It can't be found.

So, while I do appreciate the entertainment value of the forums, they are broken. The TD should be concerned about this lack of quality.
A note on the load times of forum pages.. Sometimes this is due to very large avatar files,or attachments.

Just noticed that bluemoon1's avatar was a .gif over 400K. So, every page he has a post in adds 400K to your download... We've resized his avatar, but it's not always that server, there are many variables. Hopefully the new redesign will help speed up your viewing. Cheers
