Have a little faith YOM. I think Auburn, playing at home will give Bama a fit for 3 qtrs. Auburn has the best running game Bama has faced so far and the no huddle, quick snap offense is tough to defend. It keeps the D on its heels. I do think Bama has more depth on D and that will be the back breaker for the Tigers. I think it will be a lot closer with Bama on top 31-17.quote:Originally posted by Young Old Man:
I am an Auburn fan and I do think they are gonna get hammered this Friday. That is life though, Auburn will not do anything until they get rid of the idiots that hire the head coaches.

Did you have that same confidence for the 6 years prior to last season?
Predicted replies:
A) What about those 9 years in a row that Alabama beat Auburn?
B) Why are you living in the past?
As with any Iron Bowl, the games leading up to the "showdown" are seldom an indicator of the outcome.

Remember Peter,... its all in fun and the spirit of the game...quote:The refs have been flag happy with Auburn all year while sittin on their flags for their opponents, and sat on flags for Bama while hammering their opponents.... The refs won't be able to resist gettin involved in this one... mark it down.

6 years prior to last season Bama was average at best. The last time we were undefeated this time in the season, we stayed undefeated after Iron Bowl (shut out).
I'll be honest. Iron Bowl is different than other SEC games. These are arch rivals, both teams will play like it's for the national championship. Anything can happen on Friday. Bama is heavily favored, but I'm not thinking about the SEC championship until we can get past our arch rivals first.

So, what are you implying, Auburn is getting called for penalties they don't commit, or Bama is committing penalties that aren't called?
I've only watched Auburn play a few times this year, but I'd wager that close to half their penalties this year are false starts. Heck, Zimba(sp) is good for a couple a game.
Now that the pre-beatdown excuses are set, I say Bama 43 the Barn 14...and it'll be because Bama has better coaches and players, not due to some vast conspiracy by the SEC to help Bama.

Auburn beat a 10 win and a 9 win Bama teams during that streak. When was the last time Bama beat a 9 or 10 win Auburn team?.................... 1994.
Yep, 3 of the last 4 Bama Iron Bowl wins have been against Auburn teams with losing records.
1998/3-8
1999/5-6
2001/8-4
2008/5-7
Looks more to me like Bama can only beat average to bad Auburn teams. So the arguement that "Bama's been down" is ridiculous. I could say the same of the Bear's streak of 9 over Auburn in the 70's.

That's exactly what I'm sayin. I don't think it's all coincidence that in Bama's close games the calls magically ALL go their way.
My point never stated that penalties would be THE reason Bama beats Auburn. Whether Auburn wins by 1 or Bama wins by 60.... the flag margin will be lopsided in Bama's favor. If I'm wrong I'll admit it... but if I'm right I expect profit stars on here next week. lol

It's not Bama's fault if Auburn sucks during a particular season.
Iron Bowl simply comes down to which team is better. If Auburn brings in a losing record that year and Bama beats them, so what? It simply proves that for that particular year Bama had the best team.
As for the years you posted, yes Bama had better records. Maybe Auburn should work on recruiting, seems like the best players want to play for the Tide. Maybe it's because we have a shot at the National Title?

HAHAHAHAHA... You just contradicted yourself... You mentioned that during the 6 game Auburn winning streak that Alabama was "average at best"... That's not Auburn's fault anymore than it's not Bama's fault when Auburn comes in down a bit. You made my point for me!! lol
You stated... it comes down to whose better... THAT'S THE POINT!! I'm not making excuses for Auburn losing to Bama. But that's what you were doing for bama saying that they were "just average" during Auburn's streak. Well, Auburn was above average, to very good, to great during that time. It's cyclical. Bama's up now, Auburn will reel'em back in in the next few years.

I'm never a fan of moral victories, but Auburn came out and did just what I stated earlier they'd need to do to win. And when it was 21-20 in the 4th(my pick was 20-19) it looked like my Tigers may pull it off. But alas....twas not to be. Auburn absolutely "out physicaled" Bama on Friday. Constantly hitting them in the mouth like they haven't been hit all year. That "dink and dunk" game winning drive was not Alabama football, but to their credit, they were able to finish the game strong against a worn out Auburn D. Chizik speaks of "hidden yardage" often, and that was a big part of Auburn's loss. Auburn's constant struggle in the punt return game continued in this one while Bama a couple of big returns. Also, Bama had the ball past their 40 yd line to start drives almost all day thanks to the kick off team.
The penalties went somewhat as I expected. The refs did not call a penalty on Bama unless it was ABSOLUTELY A MUST CALL. The stupid unsportsmanlike by Woodall had to be called, and the pass interference on Anders had to be called. 2 false starts and that was Bama's 4. However, go back and watch the tape.... Bama's o-line mugged Auburn's d-line all day long. Grabbing them in the numbers, and constantly holding on to Coleman and Carter's sholder pads play in and play out. If Auburn can get JUST ONE CALL on that, then Bama's o-line would at least have to think about it and try to block them straight up. And we all know they can't.
All in all, Auburn had a great gameplan, and executed it very well. Just came up short to a deeper, more complete team. But I think all would agree that the grumblings aobut demise of the Auburn fooball program were greatly overstated, and that "gap" between Alabama and Auburn is not nearly as wide as Bama fans hoped it was.....based on the predicitions I saw anyway. ;-)
Great game, very tough loss.

So in other words, Auburn played awesome, but still lost.
Sounds like a moral victory to me, but whatever floats your boat.
Auburn surprised people by jumping up 14 nothing in the 1st. If they were a deeper, stronger team, that lead wouldn't have vanished at the half.
Sorry, Auburn didn't embarrass themselves like they did last year. They played well and it was a fun game to watch. They're just a mediocre team this year that got in the path of a national champion.
