I am glad they were able to conclude that part of the case, and I hope and pray that her murderer is now brought to justice.

I am glad they have good representation.
Me, too, Gus. That is a fast settlement for that type of case. Their lawyers obviously did a great job for them.
If I am right, the hotel does not carry the Day's inn name anymore. I am sure the Days Inn corporate felt as bad as any of us do about the situation.
Is it possible the Days Inn corporation can get any relief from the franchisee?

It was settled so fast because it was such an open and shut case. An employed illegal alien with access to a key to every room. I suspect the "settlement" was fairly large as well...
I just hope that their lawyers are still overseeing any & all money. Somebody really needs to.

That sounds odd to me; if the family received a monetary settlement it would seem to me that they could do whatever they want to with it.
The amount of money and the purpose of a case as this, is not so much about the money other than , make it enought to get all the other companys attention in hopes in the future other companys or bussnesses would not let this horrible thing happen by employeeing people as they did. Sad thing is, I am sure at the very bottom of the settlement in fine print , it states that they are not ammiting to any wrong doings but willing to pay what ever the settlement is.
Or hearts go out to this family , they still have a long way to go, the Arriagnment is the first step, of many and it being in Knoxville just addes to the stress of making the trip. I am sure they have a wonderfull VSO there, not sure about a Crime Victims Support Group , we are willing to give our support in any way possible.

That sounds odd to me, too. Why in the world would an attorney be "overseeing" their money? That part of the case is over. As I recall, the parents are adults. I am sure they are perfectly capable of handling their own business matters.
I'd be willing to bet they will maintain some type of relationship with their attorneys. They probably developed a lasting relationship after all they have been through together.
I am glad this part is over. I know these people have walked their own hell on earth.
Any Attorney would have loved to had a case as this. For what ever reason the family decided on this one , it was their choice.
What ever this amount is and it sounds very large ,not a bad ideal for someone , this Attorney or another to help advise , manage . and maybe that is part of his the ' Attorney" agreement with the family , the family has the final say.

Lawyers acting as lawyers, do not manage money for their clients once a matter is concluded.
Whenever you come into a large sum of money and others know about it, you become prey to all kinds of awful things.

Reading between the lines and having handled some high dollar settlements myself, it sounds like some of the money, if not most, is being paid into an annuity rather than in a lump sum.
That affords protection in many instances from the "out of the woodwork" types.
