Neese sold the old Appleby property to UNA for a little more than he paid for it. Part of the deal was that they (UNA) purchase the Lions Gate apartments on Pine street. It was the classic example of a good business deal in that everyone won: the Board of Education got rid of a dilapidated gymnasium that was not needed, UNA got a site for the sorority dorms, which was sorely needed and are certainly an aesthetic improvement to the area, and gained another apartment complex for student housing, and Neese made a profit and got rid of an apartment complex that he didn't want. That's the way business should work. If the Board of Education hadn't asked an outrageous price for the Appleby land, Neese wouldn've been left out of the loop altogether. He's a businessman who seized an opportunity. Everyone won.
