I was just reading with interest about the Colbert County man and the junk citation and was just wondering why the city of Florence doesn't pursue unsightly properties. It looks like nothing can ever be done about the junk yard out on 72 that looks like nuclear fallout.

As for private residences, I'm curious about the house on North Wood Avenue as you get close to 7 Points. The house is surrounded by rubble and looks like someone got too happy with the rock landscaping. Since most folks on this street seem to be image conscious, I'm wondering why nothing has ever been said about this?

It's been 2000 years. He's not coming back. Get over it!

That is so funny that you mentioned the house with all the rocks. I noticed it yesterday for the first time. What were they thinking? Sometimes you get big ideas about doing something and it just don't turn out the way you planned. I think this is what happened here.
My friends and I when we see houses with lots of windchimes, sculptures, artifical flowers, etc. call this yard art.......the house with all the rocks is very close to tasteful landscaped yards.
The big problem with the Colbert County ordinance is that people live outside the city for a reason. If you want to live next to people who cut their grass, and keep their yards neat and clean... move to the city limits. Otherwise, a person in the county should be able to do with their property as they see fit as long as it doesn't endanger anyone's health or safety.

Better than that, even, is move to a
subdivision with a HOA!
