Hey, here's a newsflash for all the Obamanites....he ain't going to get "us out of them wars" either. As long as American democracy and freedom is present, and we are a world power with capitilist views, the terrorists will continue to attack us. We can choose to fight them there, or we can choose to fight them here. I believe with Barak Obama in office, he will weaken the military, deserting the responsibilities we have overseas, and create a vaccum whereby the terrorists will continue to strengthen and evenutally bring the war to our shores. You can deny it, and think we can all sit quietly by, rocking, and singing kumbya and all will be good. The day that a nuke finally decimates NYC or LA, I believe you will see the error in your ways.
Yeah, the economy is bad here, but heres another newsflash for you, it is bad everywhere. Mainly because in Europe they have done the same things we have done or are planning to do here. They loaned money to people who never intended to pay it back. They tried to tax their communities into prosperity. They have tried a healthcare system that does not work, except for those who are already healthy or young. They have sat idly by and let foreigners and illegal aliens swell their ranks and absorb their resources.
This is the plan that Obama has for you, the same failed policies that are already causing the problems in Europe.
Obama plans ,to increase taxes on the "rich", WILL effect businesses. I know, I own one, have looked at the numbers, and have talked to enough of them to realize they are making plans for the oncoming onslaught. LAwyers are digging thru the tax codes now to find the loopholes that will have to be utilized to cut down on the amount of taxes businesses will be saddled with. It is the individuals with small businesses who will suffer. Thats OK if you only want Walmart in your neighborhood, but when mom and pop stores are gone, there is no competition. And competition is good, it keeps prices manageable. You can look for unemployment to skyrocket in the next four years. More failed businesses, and a government who will have to take your 401Ks just to support those it cannot. Hope you have not saved much for your retirement, caused what you saved will probably be taken and given to someone else. But then you should feel like it is your patriotic duty to do that, right? Komrade Joe said so...
You cannot tax a country into prosperity. You cannot let the enemy come to you. It is OK to sit down to talk to them, but you never let them see you at your weakest. You try to secure your own fuel resources, which means drilling, and exploring for new alternate fuel sources. You attemmpt to regulate insurance companies, and disallow them to cherry pick the very best clients, while excluding those who need it the most.
Obama is not going to make your life any better. He is the real loser here, and if you look across the nation you will see that the majority of the states that currently support McCain are doing OK financially. Alabama's home foreclosure rate is one of the lowest. Other than Brimingham, our cities are doing fairly well financially. We have brought in businesses, some of which will probably leave the country, or won't even come here, based upon the election.
No, the real losers, are the ones who have bought into this mantra of "Hope and Change" preached by a neophyte lawyer supported by labor unions, liberal agendas, and the United Socialists.

Since when does being a vet make a person qualified to be president? And for that matter...take a look at your own signature. The "best we've ever had" (according to you) dodged going to war.

John McCain is not a war hero. He was a P.O.W. and he survived and that is amazing - it does not make him a hero. He led a mission, failed at that mission and was captured. The service says if you get your butt captured, that is a failed mission, it does not make you a hero.

I'm not sure how to even respond to that. You've had way too much cool aid.
I can PR.
Bubba,
You are saying all captured soldiers failed in their mission, all POW's are failures.
So according to the DOD as of 2004, there were 142,246 living POWs from WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam and Desert Storm.
So all these soldiers are failures, cowards, useless?
I pray sir, that you NEVER say that to a POW or a member of their family.
You sir, are a disappointment.

And your credentials are?

Clinton, the war hero, just doesn't sound right does it.

I'm sure THE community organizer will make a great Commander in Chief.

Clinton's success as president is clear proof that being a war hero is not necessarily a good thing for being a president, nor is it necessary.

Sleepyshoals mentioned several war heroes that became president. Of those, Washington's primary contribution was to resign after 2 terms setting the precedent until FDR won 4 times.
Jackson was not a particularly good president, Grant was a bad president, and Eisenhower, although an outstanding general, was not a very good president.
One war hero was an excellent president was Teddy Roosevelt. Our best president was not a hero and was in fact a cripple, Franklin D. Roosevelt.

The only thing Clinton did TOO our military is disarm it. He dismantled almost all intelligence gathering by making all money accountable in the military. The Black Opps funds in particular.

Have you forgotten the Hearings?

Clintons success of President had more to do with the trickle of Reagans tax cuts than any thing. His not capping Osama when offered his head sure worked out good for us didn't it?That being said,Clinton is no where as bad as what we'll see if there is an Obama presidency.

What exactly has Obama done to qualify for president?? NOTHING!

According to the United States Constitution, he is qualified in every way.

What you think is qualified, and what I think is qualified are two different things..i.e., relative to each individual. I could say that you aren't qualified to comment on this discussion board, but that would be my personal opinion, now wouldn't it?

Religion may play a role, ''James Carville, have speculated that the "Bible belt" may extend further than the geographic American South. For instance, he states that much of rural Pennsylvania, which he referred to as "Alabama without the blacks", may be an extension of this belt; for instance, the Pennsylvania Dutch have much in common politically with the Southern Baptists. Some commentators have even gone so far as to state that most of small-town and rural America would qualify as a Bible Belt to at least some extent.''

I finally found one of the 9% of Americans that still think Bush is taking this country in the right direction.

In other words, slice, 91% of Americans disagree with you. Bush was a disaster, even your hero McCain thinks so and so do I.

I would also like to take this time to say to all of you people who voted for Bush: I TOLD YOU SO!

Get out much, jjp?
Snowblind,

I didn't say anything about approval ratings, I said only 9% think that this country is headed in the right direction. So I went back to my source for you and found that the poll has been updated. The percent of people who think that this country is headed in the right direction has dropped to 7%. OOPS.

Did you ever stop to think ,in all your elitist stature, that a good portion of those polled think that the country is headed in the wrong direction because Obama is leading in the polls. Not all Americans are naive enough to beleive that all our problems are Bushes fault.

Now that might be one of the dumbest things this elitist has ever heard. Maybe not number one but top 40 for sure! Wink

I think that Obama is leading in the polls because 93% of Americans think that this country is headed in the wrong direction.

Could you document your assertion about PA Dutch and Southern Baptists? 1/4 of my family are PA Dutch, and I don't see many similarities. Regarding veterans status, how can Republicans say these things when they did all they could to destroy a decorated Viet Nam veteran's reputation in order to promote a draft dodger who used family ties to avoid even meeting his commitment to the national guard. I'll never forget one of the "swift boat" authors who was in high school with me. Pitiful then, and still. Bitter about anyone who had a life.

It's easy to forget what the GOP did to McCain in 2000. He was completely railroaded by the Bushies.

Now he hugs them?!?!

How could McCain let these same people run his campaign or even in the same room with him?

I still give McCain more credit than he's leading people to believe. I think he's purposely leading the party down the path of demise. Why else would he have picked Palin?
Don’t ever ignore the South. Its white male population is what puts republicans into office. They don’t like the Federal Government, they don’t like liberals, and they don’t like Northerners. Make sure to use the words “states’ rights” and “heritage,” as often as possible. These are code words for secession and segregation and they’l l know exactly what you’re talking about. When the group you spent hours praising is suddenly connected to anything bad, such as the Ku Klux Klan, tell everyone you had no idea the group held those views. Wink

filterz your leftist myopia is showing again. Backwoods is exactly right. I have participated in several politcal phone surveys in the last 6 months and each one had the 'Direction' question.
I answered that the country was going in the wrong direction, and qualified it that the cause was TOO MANY LEFTIST DEMOCRATS IN CONGRESS!!!! So I guess that makes me part of your 93%!!
Thank you for promoting the view point of people who actually love America!

If after 12+ years of Republican rule, and you blame the leftist Democrats and Barack Obama for the wrong direction, then you have a lot more important issues you need to deal with than with me!
