Is the local K-Mart about to close? I was in there for the first time in years yesterday and was shocked at little the store had.

I have heard that rumor for several years, but with Walmart not having a Layway anymore for us poor people. You would think Kmart is doing better than they have done in years.
I know Wal-Mart hurt them but I usually go to Target.

I've a cousin that's worked at the Florence KMart for 20+ years and she's not mentioned anything about them closing.
I hope not! I used their layaway this year also. I will continue to use it. I had forgotten about it till I saw a commercial on TV last month. I just hope that they will stock up more and the one in Florence really needs to tidy up the store. I think that would help them do more business. Why go to Wally World and fight all the people when you can shop at Kmart.
When K-Mart bought Sears, the cleaniness and maintenace of their stores declined even more. They fail to properly staff and stock their stores and the quality of their merchandise is a joke.
I met with some of their management after an inspection from local officals. They were informed what was needed to make the correctios and yet to take any actions to do what was needed.
Because of what I have seen in their stores, and their approach to consumer safety, I refuse to shop there, because of the potential hazards if something should happen.

I was in Florence K Mart Sunday afternoon and business was good.
I've been shopping at K-Mart for several years and they seem to have everything I need at Christmas season or any other time of the year. I avoid Wal-Mart like the plague. A family member spent over 35 years working for them and they are not good people since Sam Walton died.

Maybe K-Mart would have more business if they didn't close at nine every night.
K-Mart's return policy is what sucks! Big time!
I checked out of K-Mart one day, then when I saw the receipt realized they had overcharged me for a pair of shoes. They would not refund me the money at the cashiers, but sent me to the refund counter..(I was in a hurry on my lunch hour) it took forever!! Then they would not give me my money back because I had written a check...and I would have to wait 7-10 days for the check to clear to get my money...I asked couldn't I just get the check I just wrote, tear it up and write another one...Noooo!
I was so upset, late for work and had to wait a week to get my $10 back. I told them I wouldn't be back. I didn't go back for about 3 or 4 years. When I did, the same thing happened again. I never go in there now.

...and the one in Muscle Shoals has needed new buggies for several years.
I prefer Target for most things, but KMart is the only place where I can find thigh-high stockings.
The really good thing about K Mart is that no one tore their door off the hinges on Black Friday and no one was trampled to death.
They got a brand new manager about a year or so ago after the one who had been there for years retired. This hurt the store because the new manager was not nearly as good...then he was caught stealing a few months ago and relieved of his duties completely.
It is the worst store I have ever seen to not have the computers programmed with the sale items and charge you regular price. I feel for the saleswomen as I know it is not their fault but almost every time I buy there something like this happens.
The only reason we step foot in that place is to have the kids pictures made. Olan Mills still makes good pictures, they don't cost an arm and a leg and the employees are friendly. We will usually take a trip around the kids clothes and it's back out the door. AVOID THE RESTROOMS! During one of our Kodak moments I needed to use the restroom so off I go to the front. All I got to say is I'm glad I only had to do #1. There is no way in hell I would have sat on that toilet 
Then I noticed it wasn't just the toilet it was the whole place. Disgusting.
I figured it was just a one time deal and told the employee on duty at the service desk that the restroom needed attention. Well the next time we were doing pictures my three year old had to go #1 as well. Again off we go to the front and the same situation was before us in the restroom (according to the smell it was the same mess from three months prior) Needless to say his little toosh wasn't going anywhere near that mess so I took him back out to the car, opened the door for him to hide behind and let him pee in the parking lot.
Moral of the story, if you go to Kmart you better pee in the parking lot before you go in!
