the map looks like they use AT&Ts 3G towers. if so, I note that florence is not currently on the map but should be as AT&T just activated a tower that covers most of florence.

i imagine the thing will use the edge network, too. much slower than 3g but that really isn't a factor for downloading book text. worst case is you have to rely on wireless hotspots (or the wireless in your home if you have it) for downloading.

so id go for it

I have never had any trouble whatsoever with my Kindle app on my iPhone.I love it!

No problem at all with Kindle received for Christmas.

Mine works fine. I also have the Wi-Fi enabled on mine, and it's really quick when using that.

I got mine Saturday and the 3G works great. I've not had a chance to try the WiFi since i don't have it here at home.

Mine does not have 3G. It is able to pick up wifi signals, though, to post on Facebook from a selection I've made in the text, and also to download books that I've clicked on in the Amazon.com store. I love it. I did not think I would like a Kindle very much, since I love holding a real book in my hands. But--one day last week, I actually licked my finger to turn the page and I knew that my Kindle was perfect. From now on, I won't choose a regular book if it's available on Kindle.

PS--every book that I've purchased from amazon.com has downloaded in under 60 seconds--way out here in the boonies, with our wifi at home.
