A conservative billionaire who opposes government meddling in business has bought a rare commodity: the right to interfere in faculty hiring at a publicly funded university.

A foundation bankrolled by Libertarian businessman Charles G. Koch has pledged $1.5 million for positions in Florida State University's economics department. In return, his representatives get to screen and sign off on any hires for a new program promoting "political economy and free enterprise."

This is a refreshing change.

Good.  I'm glad you agree that curriculum and staff decisions should be for sale, and I will contact Soros and recommend that he start making donations to Alabama and Auburn immediately.  We need more pro-union lawyers, doctors and engineers in AlObama.

As for spelling it AlaObama, laughable. More like NObama in Bama!

You are correct, AlOBama will not be a factor in the 2012 election.  OBama spent zero dollars campigning in AlOBama last time and will do the same this time.  The Repub candidate will assume to have the electoral college vote here and likewise will devote zero attention to the state.  There are only 8 states in play in the nnext election, and those states will decide.

People like Soros and his ilk have been there for decades... time for some balance. As for more 'pro-union lawyers', have you ever met an anti union lawyer? Or are you saying we simply need more lawyers? In either case, Alabama needs that like it needs more bureaucrats.
