Kucinich presents Bush impeachment articles

June 9, 2008

An Ohio Democratic lawmaker and former presidential candidate has presented articles of impeachment against President George W. Bush to Congress.

Thirty-five articles were presented by Rep. Dennis Kucinich to the House of Representatives late Monday evening, airing live on CSPAN.

"The House is not in order," said Kucinich to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), upon which Pelosi pounded her gavel.

"Resolved," Kucinich then began, "that President George W. Bush be impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors, and that the following articles of impeachment be exhibited to the United States Senate. ...

"In his conduct while President of the United States, George W. Bush, in violation of his constitutional oath to faithfully execute the office of president of the United States, and to the best of his ability preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has committed the following abuses of power..."

The first article Kucinich presented, and many that followed, regarded the war in Iraq: "Article 1 - Creating a secret propaganda campaign to manufacture a false case for war against Iraq."

Kucinich, a 2004 and 2008 Democratic candidate for the White House, abandoned a prior attempt to begin impeachment proceedings against Bush in January of this year.

In April of 2007, Kucinich presented impeachment articles against Vice President Dick Cheney, but the effort went nowhere. Kucinich exclaimed that "impeachment may well be the only remedy which remains to stop a war of aggression against Iran."

Before leaving office in January 2007, Rep. Cynthia McKinney--currently a Green Party presidential candidate--introduced articles of impeachment against President Bush as her last act in Congress, but that effort also was fruitless.

the first line of your post should read; "A lunatic Ohio Democrat lawmaker and extraterrestrial midget presidential candidate loser who had to bow out of the 'O8 race due to the fact that he couldn't see above the lecturn

MINE IS NOT TO JUDGE OR BE JUDGED BUT ONLY TO SUBSTANTIATE. If Bush is impeached, it would start a new type of war with many different nations. It would show that we Americans are not and do not stand behind the decisions made for the better of other nations and our own. While some propogate the situation of weapons or the lack there of; the truth still remains that George Bush is the president, he did what he thoguht to be best at the time. He only has a few more months in his office and some new baffoon will take over and like many before will impose his/her beliefs instead of the people's. Our country was founded by God for the people and by the people and our Nation has forgotten that. One more thing to consider; rumor has it that there will be problems with the election procedings of our new President beause of the way the candidates have ran (Hilary & Obama); Some have said that it will cause our current president to declare martial law before his term ends, if this happens and this is the case then we will have a President named George Bush for several more years possibly indefinitly unitl our Governement - country is stabelized once again. Just somethign to keep an eye on. Have a great day and God bless.

Good point Howard. Let's see... we have had hearings about steroids in baseball, "videogate" in the NFL, a chance to take pot shots at the CEO's of "Big Oil" about how much they personnaly make... But they can't get a funding bill pushed through to support out Troops in the field.

You gotta love it...

Are you going to put the libs who quoted the exact same intel as GWB did in the same cell with him? For some reason...hmmmm... I seriously doubt it.

The libs that I assume you are talking about were going on Bush's word. They were misled just like you were but they were smart enough to find out the truth. You, however, seem to be brainwashed.

I'm sorry, but what you just said is a lie. They were given the hard copy intel while in committee. They also had access to the NIE reports. No offense, but you need to do some more research. Check out Rockefeller in paticular. Specifically the following from 2002 after he made a trip to the middle east:

"There has been some debate over how 'imminent' a threat Iraq poses. I do believe that Iraq poses an imminent threat, but I also believe that after September 11, that question is increasingly outdated. It is in the nature of these weapons, and the way they are targeted against civilian populations, that documented capability and demonstrated intent may be the only warning we get. To insist on further evidence could put some of our fellow Americans at risk. Can we afford to take that chance? We cannot!"
The democrat's convention is coming up in August. Kucinich is a possible speaker. No doubt he's simply doing this so he can have something to stir everyone up for his national speech.

Besides, democrats have been wanting to impeach Bush before he was even sworn in. I agree, this is pointless and a waste of time.

Bush isn't going to get impeached 5 months before election, use your dam heads.

Yes, the time has come, but he will get off scott free as always I bet.
Kucinich has always stood up against the lies, greed and exploitation of Corporate Power. He has always stood for the people. He opposed the invaion as was right. Shows that a person's intelligence and integrity is not judged by their psyhical seize.

Bush "misrepresented" intelligence, he lied. They "cherry picked" information that was favorable to them and discarded that which wasn't. They also left out the dispute in the intelligence agencies that said the evidence was not credible or convincing. They then presented this "evidence" to congress, which is what most of the democrats are talking about.

The speech Powell gave to the UN was a lie.

The "lefties" Howard supported the continuation of the inspections and are now calling for an investigation of the lies.

The real reason why Pelosi has impeachment "off the table" is the democrats knew, like most of the world and those 'lefties' that follow events in the middle east, that this evidence was suspicious. The Corporate Media also knew is didn't ass up but they filled the air waves with pro war pundits and allowed the Pentagon to send over Generals and ex Generals to spread disinformation to the American people. Bush, the Republicans, Corporate Democrats, like Clinton, and the Corporate Media are all co-conspirators in the war. They should all be prosecuted, including the Corporate Media. The War IS a War Crime.

The Democrats as well as the Republicans know that it is us Policy to control the region for the oil and most democrats fear opposing the Corporate Military Industrial Establishment.
As I stated the Democrats are not interested in impeachment because the Corporate Military Industrial Establishment's policy is to seize control of the region by military force. That is why we are preparing to build bases in Africa also. Many of the democrats are corporate democrats are part of this system and are also on their "bread line" for campaign contributions.

Also, as I stated, many of the democrats in the video are quoting information presented to them from the Bush administration which was "cherry picked" leaving out information that did not support their case for war.

The "Lefties" are calling for impeachment. Once the process begins and the evidence is presented to the American People Bush and Cheney are "toast."

The real question is how can anyone deny that Bush lied after examining the evidence.

Some specifics from Rockefeller's statement:

* Statements and implications by the President and Secretary of State suggesting that Iraq and al-Qa'ida had a partnership, or that Iraq had provided al-Qa'ida with weapons training, were not substantiated by the intelligence.

* Statements by the President and the Vice President indicating that Saddam Hussein was prepared to give weapons of mass destruction to terrorist groups for attacks against the United States were contradicted by available intelligence information.

* Statements by President Bush and Vice President Cheney regarding the postwar situation in Iraq, in terms of the political, security, and economic, did not reflect the concerns and uncertainties expressed in the intelligence products.

* Statements by the President and Vice President prior to the October 2002 National Intelligence Estimate regarding Iraq's chemical weapons production capability and activities did not reflect the intelligence community's uncertainties as to whether such production was ongoing.

* The Secretary of Defense's statement that the Iraqi government operated underground WMD facilities that were not vulnerable to conventional airstrikes because they were underground and deeply buried was not substantiated by available intelligence information.

* The Intelligence Community did not confirm that Muhammad Atta met an Iraqi intelligence officer in Prague in 2001 as the Vice President repeatedly claimed.
Corporate Military Industrial Establishment?

Never heard of them, is that part of the Army or Navy?

You know, I bet those are the bastards who run Area 51 and build stuff with alien technology. They are probably the cause of Global Warming so we'll all die off and the Alien Corporate Military Industrial Establishment can repopulate the Earth!

I'm going to start subscribing to the progressive press right now! You've changed my mind, Pogo!

By the way, where are you from again?
The old varmint's responses are set in the same old rut. I believe there is a re-union of old socialist somewhere around the La Brea tar pits.

Of course, the latest info is the globe is in a ten year cooling period that is supposed to last another ten years. But, did Gore's great climate model pcikup on that -- Nooo! Perhaps, Gore is part of that Alien Corporate Military Industrial Establishment. He came to earth in 1947 during the height of the alien scare at Raton, NM. Man always reminded me of a Borg.
Conspiracy Theorists? Oh, you mean like Iraq had WMD and Hussein was the next Hitler? But wait, that wasn't right, now it's Iran.

Never heard of the Corporate Military industrial Establishment.? and you say you studied Broadcasting in Collage and it's your Business Nash? Ever hear of Dwight Eisenhower? There is criticism of the low content of the Corporate Media and it's contributing to the "Dumbing Down" of America. I can see why. No wonder your against liberals being given a fair voice over the airwaves.

With the likes of Nash in Broadcasting, Southern Patriot in the MIlitary and Howard in Washington it's easy to see why the country is in just sorry shape.

Of course Howard you are trying to change the subject becasue you can't stay on a subject, you run out of nonsense to post.

There are record droughts in some areas and record rains in others due to extreme temperture changes, due to the earth warming. The last two decades of been the warmest since they began recording. First the right wing denied the warming was happening, then they acknowledged it was happening but it was natural and now they are back to denial.

If you want to discuss Global Warming start another thread. This one is about the Impeachable crimes Bush and Cheney have committed. Easy to see why your trying to change the subject.

I repeat the truth because that's all there is to say. I guess to be a Right Winger you have to be ignorant and insulting so you don't have to face the truth.

I went to a pretty liberal college, "corporate military industrial establishment" never came up.

Just to make sure I didn't miss anything, I put in "corporate military industrial establishment" in Google. No results. Why is that?

I'm not against liberals getting their message out, I'm in favor of free speech and free expression. The fairness doctrine hinders those rights. The only thing standing in the way of liberal talk radio is that no one wants to hear it.

Pogo, where are you from again? What "collage" did you go to that taught about the "corporate military industrial establishment" that provided no hits on Google? Did you go to UNA? Do you even know what UNA is?
Pogo,

The full context of Eisenhower's speech was "We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together."

As to any crimes by Bush and Chaney, if one watched the linked video, one saw and heard the same claims from the Clinton administration. Did they lie, as well, or did you not watch the video and proceed with a reply, anyway, or did you watch the video and decide to ignore the evidence?

As to my earlier comments, they reflect the gravity of my consideration.
