Las Trojas in the Florence Mall has been here well long enough now to have worked out the kinks and problems yet my recent trip back to there only served to prove, at least to me, that not only have they not worked out the problems but that the problems seem to be increasing.

At least they have gotten rid of the dark blue glasses that made every drink look the same but in my case we ordered Fajitas only to get the Fajitas at the booth steaming from the plate but had to wait more than five minutes for the flour tortillas to be brought out so although the Fajitas were hot they were cooled down by the time we were able to eat them.  On the positive side we were served a plentiful amount and the taste was good but the service was horrible and then we were overcharged by the waitress and even by the manager.  We were continually charged the dinner price at lunch and although they finally got it right it was after four attempts and that never should have happened.

In short I have decided that if I'm in the mood for Fajita's I'll go to Rosie's Cantina and if I'm in the Mall area I'll choose Casa Mexicana over Las Trojas anytime.  I hate to see a restaurant like Las Trojas being run so sloppy and badly and although you have to really screen your bill the fact is if there is a mistake or problem. you can bet that management will not issue any credit against the bill's total.  Mistakes aren't tolerated but they are seemingly expected and become the norm.  The meal was good, the food good and the drinks were also very good but patrons beware and expect that there will be problems and what shouldn't be expected is that if there is a problem that management will make up for it.  Overall I'd have to give it a 4 out of 10 for total dining experience.

GBRK,... if you haven't tried El Pollito in North Florence, you owe it to your taste buds to do so. They have moved into a new building behind the one on Pine St and Chisholm. Great food and service. I haven't been disappointed yet.

Is this the place that located in the building that used to be a computer repair building?  The large building behind the smaller ones, the one on the corner, that used to be "Frostbites"?  I'll put it on my list to try.

Food's good, but men's room is always dirty. Won't go again.

I can't help but believe that there is a management problem at this location.  The problems getting your food together, that is Fajitas along with tortillas, drink, eating utensils or having everything you need to begin eating has lingered from opening day.  This is something that you would think management would have taken care of.  Also on the last occasion that I ate there I had a coupon which offered a free lunch entree with the purchase of a lunch entree only the waitress billed me for the dinner entree instead and didn't discount the second entree.

The manager (on duty) then apologized for the waitress who not only rung in the order wrong but never brought tortillas to go with the Fajitas and then allowed the drinks to run out without refills.  The manager upon re-ringing in the lunch order did exactly the same thing pricing the meal according to the dinner menu but at least did discount off the second entree but the price was still wrong.  It was just one set of problems/errors after another and I can imagine that they are letting other things, like the restrooms and toiletries go unattended as well.

Such a nice location and restaurant to have so many profound problems and difficulties it's sad.  The last time I ate at Casa Mexicana I had a waiter that actually worked at Las Trojas and he said that no one there seems to know what it takes to run a restaurant and that he'd never seen so many problems serving people.  I don't see them lasting much longer unless they can find some way to correct these problems because they have to be losing business over it and from what I saw when I was there last business was but a fraction of what it was when they opened.
