Todays issue of the Times Daily spoke of the Commission, she is probably a fine woman but i dont go for home rule to me it seems the first step into city ordinance types and i assume situations like a junk filled yard such as "The Romine Situation" are to such an extreme you have recourse without home rule,i just dont the county to head towards being like the city
I really wish someone would have sponsored a forum for these 5. There are so many of them and it would be good to get an opportunity to hear them speak on different topics. I have pretty much narrowed it down to 3, I think. . .Any info. on Daniel Patterson? I read everyone's bio in today insert named "Election 2008". I am still having a difficult time deciding between Travis Clemmons, Daniel Patterson, and Rob Cornelius.

If you think that is true, explaing Bottoms' lot at Elgin. Looks like a tornado hit it. Filth everywhere and he doesn't care.

Dwayne Oliver aint nothin to be laughed at either
While I support Republican incumbant William Smith, the most qualified (and perhaps only qualified) Democratic candidate is Daniel Patterson.
Why Daniel Patterson over the other candidates? His main interest is real estate and doing what helps those IN real estate make the most money. Like the condos they want to build outside of Killen that would greatly benefit by a sewer treatment plant. That's fine if they build the sewer plant IN Killen. But I sure haven't seen Daniel Patterson opposing dumping the crap into Blue Water Creek or the other little creeks involved in the Killen Mayor's determination to dump his waste anywhere but Killen itself. What has Daniel Patterson done that would prove to me he's the best person for this job? Outside of being an auctioneer and real estate agent? And being Class officer in High School. Most of the candidates are involved in something that gives them the opportunity to yak it up with the citizens and gov. officials. What makes Daniel special? I haven't decided where my vote is going yet ... but I do have a favorite or two and he wsan't one of them.
I have to agree with you doublel. My vote is going to Rob Cornelius. He has a B.S. in finance from UNA and works as an accountant. I think that this would be very beneficial for handling our tax money. He has demonstrated his leadership abilities in many areas. He was SGA treasurer, a University Ambassador, and treasurer and president of his fraternity. He also has attended leadership seminars all across the country. He has held positions such as statewide president of the Walking Horse Association of Alabama and has served on their Board of Directors. He was VP of ALFA Young Farmers. He's a member of AL Assoc. of Accountants, AL Cattlemen's, Rogersville Chamber of Commerce and several walking horse associations. It appears to me that he is very well-rounded. He is on the committee to build a new agrigulture arena in Rogersville that will be used to help bring in visitors (and their money) to the town.
He is also a family man. He is married and they attend Rogersville Church of Christ. He is active with his four sons in their athletics and 4-H projects.
What I think I like best is that he does not have an agenda like some of the other candidates might (sewage treatment, real estate, police dept). He simply wants to make Lauderdale County a better place and he has the knowledge, experience, leadership abilities and work-ethic to do so.
I thought some of you might like this info to help you make your decision.

I felt Daniel had the most well-rounded resume. Also, he is the most educated. It takes resolve to finish a degree, and he has several. Of course, education has never been highly thought of in this area in reality, only in theory.
However, it has not occurred to me that he might be pro the Bluewater sewage treatment site. I would definitely look into that before voting.
I was surprised Travis Clemmons made the run-off. He appeared to be the least qualified. Then again, why should I be surprised...it's a popularity contest with most Lauderdale Countians.

Ir is County Commission basically the LOWEST elected office out there,ANY adult with AVERAGE intellect is qualified,it is just about policy, there is no other public office lower really to be held to prepare for this role
Glad you think so highly of them Johnny.
It is not a complicated job but you do need to right ideas
