OK. My blood pressure is sky high at the moment.

I just called the Lauderdale County Drivers License Office and asked where they were located. I knew they had moved to the bank building and didn't want to waste my lunch hour hunting for them.

So I asked where? -- 1st floor of the bank building.

Ok, so my next question was which door is best to come in to get to you...she said "the front door or the side door"...with a snide tone

OK, so I asked what doors were those because since the building has more than 4 entrances -- that could be on any street. She got hateful. She got irritated that I didn't just listen to a front door or side door and take it at that. and repeated her answer...

When I asked what street she was referring too -- she told me I couldn't enter on the Quizno's side -- well, excuse me that is a "side door" So that was a pertinent question

Then I hear her whisper to someone else behind her "My God they don't pay attention!" -- So that upset me -- I'm asking a question and because SHE doesn't want to deal with anyone she makes a hateful comment -- so I said, "My God ma'am, I'm sorry if you would give better answers I might could understand." She immediately got all huffy and realized she was busted -- instead of apologizing for the attitude -- she decided that I was in the wrong...needless to say, I may have to go there to get my license renewed but I think our city should start making cuts with it's rude employees that deal with the public every day and treat like we are morons for asking questions...

I realize she was probably just having a bad day but her bad day doesn't make me the moron...we all have our moments...

Dixie, try to park in the small parking lot (thats elevated from the street) or behind the bank (in between the Utility Dept) and use those side doors facing the courthouse. Walk in & keep going straight, you'll run right into it.

They have always been hateful in that office. I was just there last week & didn't experienc any better attitude than you did.

That made me Have A Moment!! Big Grin
The lady that does the license renewal has been rude from the beginning.
I have had to go to the license office a couple of times here lately. One thing that I have noticed is that they all still have the bad attitude they had at the old place. I was kinda hoping it would change since they have such a nice place to work?

The license office is under the stairs that are open to the room in the corner of court and Tennessee streets.
Who do I report her too? I'm glad it wasn't just me -- I was thinking maybe I was just not having a good day or something and maybe I overreacted, but the more I think about it the more it irritates me. I realize that my mood affects everybody I work with and I try every day to come in with a good attitude and when I don't I try to at least avoid everyone so I don't rub off on them...

I wish the mayor knew how ugly she was to people who are just asking instructions or directions...this was crazy...they moved to a new building -- we didn't ask them to move they chose it -- so they got a better place to work they should be willing to answer questions on how to get to them...

Sorry to be a downer today...thanks for the directions FloTown --

They had a plan in place, but somebody dropped the ball and gave her the memo about the move.
If this is the lady that usually works there and wears glasses, probably middle aged - she is HATEFUL!!! I had to get my license renewed this month and I asked her if she liked being in the new building better - you would have thought I had asked her how much they paid her. Then she started telling me that she hated working in the courthouse because of all the cursing she had to listen to. Then she said "do you remember that old black man that worked the metal detector? well, he was supposed to be a preacher but he was real prejudiced against white people and they fired him for stealing a bracelet." I sort of got the feeling that she might be a little 'prejudiced' her self! Very high and mighty and HATEFUL! I completed the form Mrs. Rabbit provided and encourage you to do the same Dixie!

Look, we all have bad days. Let's not go and try and have the woman fired. She's working supporting a family, I'm sure, and not mooching off the government. I agree, these courthouse people are rude. I've dealt with them and they all seem like it kills them to get up out of that chair and wait on you.

Well Jimbo , if you agree that they are rude ,then why cover for them ? You say " they all seem like that " well "they " wouldnt be if they got reported enough times . Wink
I was in the same area after lunch yesterday and all of the females in the area were either looking at Avon books or gossiping. It didn't seem like anything much was being done. There were several people in the title area with numbers and questions. I'll skip mentioning what small children running around were doing.

I don't believe in trying to have people fired because they were less than cordial. We're living in some tough times right now. Give the woman the benefit of the doubt, she's having a bad day. Maybe, Dixie can talk to her when she goes down to have her driver's license renewed. Yeah, people have been rude to me at places of business, but I don't let it get to me.

You've probably never had a job. Do you find satisfaction in having someone fired from their job because they don't bow down to your every whim?

How wrong you are Sir. I have worked for over 33 yrs now and have worked for the public enough to know about customer service thank you very much !!! The reason they get by with treating us bad is because we let them . Now Jim , you can get treated bad if you want to , but as the paying customer , I will not.
Now to answer you dumb question , do I enjoy getting them fired ? you bet , if they cant do the job and treat us as a paying customer , then their butt is out the door , if I have any say so about it. I am tired of paying for insults or bad treatment from them . Same as I would get fired if you called me at work and I told you to go sweep up some onion peels at wal-mart . Razzer
Its not about "bowing down to my every whim" , its called CUSTOMER SERVICE , if you cant do the job , stay home . Roll Eyes
Ok, I just got back from the Drivers License office.

For the record -- I DID NOT CALL IN THE BOMB THREAT today nor did I do it yesterday. Eeker Yes folks, when I pulled in there were cops every where...I didn't even make any smarty pants remarks like "Well if I had to deal with you..." so although, I was ticked this morning I did not and have not gone psycho.

Secondly, I try not to judge a book by its cover but she apparently wasn't "just having a bad day" on the phone this morning -- it is obvious her snootyness is strictly by nature...otherwise, she would have seemed frustrated or upset or BUSY when I went in to get my picture taken...she was just as nice and quiet as could be IN PERSON FACE TO FACE...it appears that my questions just got under her skin on the phone because there was no obvious signs of "just one of those days" it wasn't like she had people lined out the door -- she just gets tired of answering those same questions every day...and it confirmed that her comment was meant to be "under her breath" because there is no one else in the office but her...but then again, answering questions is part of her job...so when I unknowingly ask you the same question you've answered 5 times today doesn't mean you should be ugly ever...

She took a decent picture so I have no complaints there...she did mention it was nicer and quieter being there and I said yes less to deal with since the courts are gone etc but she was not outright rude. I won't go so far as to call anyone racist just because they dislike dealing with some of the rif raf and attitudes that go through a court system -- they are often the bad guys remember? I would have to agree that the bank gives a different atmosphere from the old section of the court house -- much cleaner and nicer...so I am glad they are happy in their new home...

So -- while her attitude this morning and on the phone gave me a very bad morning and a bad taste in my mouth -- her nicer attitude in person made the experience ok...With that said, just because you are the "go to gal" for Driver's Licenses doesn't mean you should treat people any differently whether they are on the phone or in person -- regardless...employed by the State or whatever -- Do Unto Others as you'd have them do unto you always applies...you should be the same person on the phone as you are face to face -- just because someone can't slap you through the phone if you disrespect them doesn't mean you have the right to be ugly...someone else might not be as nice as me and might decide to do just that for that snooty attitude...

So on a scale of 1-5 I would give the experience a 2.5.....the good evened out the bad...

That's good to hear, mine doesn't expire until 2011 and I was already starting to dread the trip.

Big Grin --- Like Flotown said just go in the side door (under the old drive thru area) and walk all the way to the other side of the building and her office is right there...I wish you the best!

It sure sounds like the soup Nazi.

Jimbo , I'm not looking for your approval and could care less what you think . And who do you know that is drawing a phony gov . check ? its your duty to report it if you know of it , if you dont , your worse than they are , or as bad for allowing it !!! Razzer
I am at work now and my mailman just ran , has yours dropped off your check yet ? Roll Eyes

I'm sure you're being real productive at work today. All you've done is argue with me this morning. Hopefully, the afternoon will bring more productivity from the Rabbit.

We've disaggreed on this thread , 3 times , how does that take up all day ? it dont for me , maybe you but not me . lol Poor Jimbo. Im getting my work done , are you ?
Dixie, why didn't you ask her north, east, etc.? Quizno's would be north, but I have an idea anyone working for the county government doesn't know even that.

For many years (all my life), I've never reported anyone unless they were stealing or physically hurting someone else. I've decided that's what's wrong in this country. People who don't know how to do their jobs feel entitled and blame the public for their problems. No one ever reports them out of pity or whatever, and the problem just gets worse.
That was just it Fire, before I could get any other words out to ask more specific questions is when she said the "My God..." part -- after that, it was all over, she hit my witch switch...as a friend of mine would say...

When she first answered the phone she was fine, but when I went to ask for more specific directions I became her irritation -- a little patience was all she needed -- I would have gotten what I needed had she gave me the benefit of the doubt...as it was she removed all doubt about her attitude...

Yes, Jimbo -- I'm very surprised I got a good picture -- it's not great but it's not horrible either...it's better than my Sam's Club card...that's for sure...
