I just happened to hear part of this woman's (I refuse to call her a "Dr.") radio show a few days ago when I was flipping through stations. I can't imagine why anyone would listen to her in the first place unless they enjoy being ridiculed and talked to like an idiot. I've never heard a more rude and callous person. I wasn't surprised when I heard the news that she lost her show.

Her doctorate is in Physiology, not in Psycology or Psychiatry as she would have you believe. Please don't associate this obnoxious person with those of us who have advanced degrees in English.
I don't understand how that woman has a following.

And she's such a hypocrite, not exactly one to practice what she preaches:

*She divorced her first husband after just a couple of years of marriage.

*She started dating her current husband while he was still married. (And they lived together nine years before getting married.)

*She had premarital sex in college.

*She told a friend that she was pregnant at the time of her wedding.

*She hasn't spoken to her mother in years and is estranged from her sister.

*She encourages families to practice one religion yet her husband didn't convert to Judaism until they had been married for several years.

*She calls herself a shrink, but she is not a psychiatrist or a psychologist.

Nauseating!

Let's add "Dr." Phil to that list too!

Actually, she chose not to renew her contract. At least that's what they said this morning on the news, per her interview with Larry King. I've never listened to her.
Butter,
She is an LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) in California. Her license is inactive primarily because she does not do private practice anymore and focuses on her internationally syndicated radio show.

Also, some of your facts are outdated, her mom has died, they converted to Judaism when her son did. See wiki.

Yes, attic, just not renew her contract.

I do see the point she made about the use of the "n-word": No one should be using it. I'm paraphrasing, but apparently she told Larry King that she chose not to renew her contract because some were trying to squelch her right to free speech, as opposed to using what happened as an opportunity for honest dialogue about race in this country. I agree with her on that as well.
I think she's obnoxious and rude to most people that call in. I do not like her show or the way she analyzes things. I do not agree with everything she said during this call that's referenced here. BUT, I do think that when she said the N word 3 times in the beginning, she was making a point. I do feel the caller was overly sensitive right away. Laura (I refuse to call reference her as "Dr." also) was telling her what she hears on HBO. It is confusing. The caller basically said it's not okay for Laura to say the word because she's white. (She should not have continued to say it as she did. Her point was made the first time when she was simply repeating what others say.) Did you notice that the caller said the N word several times herself? If it was so offensive to her you would think she would have avoided the word. I'm white. I find the N word extremely offensive so I don't use it. No one in my circle of friends or family use the word. It does get confusing, and irritating though, when there are 2 sets of rules.
