Man dies fish tank cleaner chloroquine coronavirus

In another illustration of the Darwin Awards, a 60-something man has died and his wife was hospitalized after self-medicating with chloroquine phosphate — a toxic chemical used to clean fish tanks — in a bid to prevent the coronavirus.

The Arizona couple ingested the chemicals (without consulting a doctor) in the hope that it would protect them against the coronavirus.

Predictably, leftists immediately blamed President Trump, who — along with several medical experts — had expressed optimism about chloroquine, an anti-malaria drug which showed a 100% cure rate for the coronavirus in a 36-patient French study.

For the record, the President never told anyone to ingest anything — especially without consulting your doctor.

Trump also underscored that SCIENTISTS (not lay people) are currently studying the use of chloroquine to assess its efficacy against the Wuhan coronavirus.

The couple was admitted to the Banner Health Hospital in Arizona after they started vomiting within 30 minutes of consuming the toxic fish-tank cleaner — which are not suitable for human consumption.

Banner Health issued a statement advising Americans not to self-medicate in their panicked attempts to prevent or cure the coronavirus on their own: “Given the uncertainty around COVID-19, we understand that people are trying to find new ways to prevent or treat this virus. “But self-medicating is not the way to do so.”

Naturally, NBC News pounced on the story in a transparent attempt to attack President Trump.  The wife recounted: “I saw it sitting on the back shelf and thought, ‘Hey, isn’t that the stuff they’re talking about on TV?'”

The couple, who were both in their 60s, then mixed the fish-tank cleaner with a liquid and drank it, hoping it would prevent them from contracting the coronavirus.

“We were afraid of getting sick,” the woman told NBC News

She said within 20 minutes, she became dizzy. “I started vomiting,” the woman recounted. “My husband started developing respiratory problems and wanted to hold my hand.”

Hydroxychloroquine is a decades-old drug that has successfully treated malaria.

A 36-patient study recently conducted by a French doctor showed a 100% cure rate for the coronavirus using hydroxychloroquine in combination with Zithromax Z-Pak.

Last week, a Florida man who had the coronavirus and was on his deathbed took hydroxychloroquine — in consultation with his doctor — and was cured.

Today (March 24), New York State will start testing the drug combo to combat the coronavirus, under orders by New York’s Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Predictably, the left-wing media has heaped praise on Gov. Cuomo for doing the same thing that President Trump has urged, which is to conduct large-scale studies on the drug.

While leftists with pathological Trump Derangement Syndrome blame the President for the idiotic actions of random people who don’t consult doctors, Trump supporters fired back.

Former CIA analyst Buck Sexton tweeted: “NBC News wants you to be careful about hearing things Trump did not actually say about a drug and then take a completely different drug (actually, a fish tank cleaner) and without asking any medical advice from a doctor, or even doing a google search first, drink the cleaner.”

The Daily Wire’s Jessica Fletcher quipped: “I really didn’t expect tonight to devolve into defending the President from being blamed for people drinking fish tank cleaning chemicals, but 2020 is a special kind of stupid.”

Reminder: Democrat Speaker Nancy Pelosi was never blamed for encouraging people to eat poisonous Tide Pods.

"Because she didn’t…Just like Trump didn’t encourage anyone to eat Fish Tank Chemicals."

The Mesa City, Ariz., Police Department has launched a homicide investigation into the death of Gary Lenius, the man whose wife gave him a drink laced with fish tank cleaner allegedly to ward off COVID-19.

The investigation, which was confirmed by the Washington Free Beacon, is being handled by Det. Teresa Van Galder, who could not provide any details at the moment because it’s an active case.

The news site also reported that it provided a recording of its interview with Wanda Lenius, 61, from

March.

You may recall the story.

Gary Lenius, 68, died March 22 after ingesting a substance that is used to clean fish tanks. The cleaner was given to him by wife Wanda, ostensibly to keep coronavirus at bay after hearing President Donald Trump discuss one of its ingredients, chloroquine phosphate.

The “mainstream media” instantly picked up on the story because of the Trump angle. NBC News reported, for instance:

The man’s wife told NBC News she’d watched televised briefings during which President Trump talked about the potential benefits of chloroquine. Even though no drugs are approved to prevent or treat COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, some early research suggests it may be useful as a therapy.

“I saw it sitting on the back shelf and thought, ‘Hey, isn’t that the stuff they’re talking about on TV?” Wanda Lenius told the network. “We were afraid of getting sick.”

Media Leftists pounced on the incident to ensure that the president got all the blame.

But the Free Beacon noted that the story of what allegedly happened did not match

Though that report and others suggested the couple mindlessly followed the president’s medical advice to disastrous results, friends of Gary Lenius told the Free Beacon they were skeptical he would knowingly ingest fish tank treatment.

Rather, they described Lenius as a levelheaded retired engineer and recounted a troubled marital relationship that included a previous domestic assault charge against his wife, of which she was ultimately found not guilty. The Free Beacon also reported that Wanda Lenius was a Democratic donor whose most recent contribution went to a “pro-science” super PAC.

“What bothers me about this is that Gary was a very intelligent man, a retired [mechanical] engineer who designed systems for John Deere in Waterloo, Iowa, and I really can’t see the scenario where Gary would say, ‘Yes, please, I would love to drink some of that Koi fish tank cleaner,’” a close friend told the news site. “It just doesn’t make any sense.”

And, come to find out, Wanda Lenius is a “prolific” donor to Democrats and their causes.

According to the Free Beacon’s investigation of the incident, other friends made observations about the couple that seemed to undermine Wanda Lenius’ narrative.

the couple’s actions:

Another friend of the couple noted that she “would constantly berate Gary in public… Everyone was embarrassed for him, but he outwardly did not seem to care much.”

“In our opinion, their marriage was seen outwardly to be as one-sided as a marriage possibly could be: Gary worshiped Wanda,” the person noted, adding that the wife “would routinely call him a doofus” in public.

Moreover, she was charged with domestic abuse and assault in 2001 after she allegedly hit husband Gary and swung at him with a mounted birdhouse. Gary did not cooperate with police during the subsequent investigation; Wanda was never convicted.

As to the lethal drink, another friend told the news site that Wanda often prepared a “vitamin cocktail” for Gary.

Last month in an interview with the Free Beacon, Wanda said of the incident, “We weren’t big supporters of [Trump], but we did see that they were using it in China and stuff. And we just made a horrible, tragic mistake.”

Prove me wrong.

Donald J. Trump “I don't take responsibility at all.” The leader of the Republicans party must be a Democrat, by your standards. hahahahaha

Libs would walk 100 miles out of their way to tell a lie.

D'Blasio, not too long ago, told New Yorkers that there was nothing to fear, to go on with their lives and ride the subway and go to the bars, their favorite restaurants etc, etc, etc, and ignore Trump. Then after the scope of it was seen and known shifted gears into 100% blame Trump for everything.

There have been clips of various New York City officials (even the city's health official) downplaying the virus and promoting riding the subway and eating out together bragging that the city was more than prepared to meet this coming epidemic head-on, only to do as their Mayor and deflect blame to Donald Trump once their own estimates and information were proven wrong and horribly incorrect.

The democrats weren’t making a big deal about it. They were telling everyone to go about your normal daily routines...go to bars, eateries, plays at the Lincoln center, school etc!
De Blasio was telling everyone to go to the movies...restaurants and ride the subways and ignore Trump. The health commissioner of NYC said it was nothing to worry about....go about your business...we're prepared to meet this head on. Pelosi 2/28... go to Chinatown festivals. Biden and Sanders were holding rallies in March and Biden was getting in his supporters faces wanting to fight!
