'The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it.'

'When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.'

'And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms.'

'An elective despotism was not the government we fought for.' - Thomas Jefferson

It's sad that some individuals resort to that kind of behavior. There's not much that can be done about a suspect walking into a coffee shop and opening fire on four unsuspecting officers. In many occasions, the court system has failed as well as the parole boards. It's a bad ordeal. Some situations can be prevented...others can't. The bravery of the officer (Missouri I think) that ran up and shot the suspect after the first officer went down at the patrol car door was amazing.
dogsoldier, I pray for the safety of every law enforcement officer every single day. and i promise you i would willingly put my own life in danger to assist an officer in trouble if i could, however, it does not justify the use of excessive force or police brutality (period). it's an assummed risk associated with the choice of profession and i commend you for your willingness to serve your fellow citizen. God Bless
