Why do liberal-minded actors, such as Charlie Sheen, Johnny Dep and Danny Glover always seem to choose roles in which their characters depict behaviors they seemingly detest?

'The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it.'

'When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.'

'And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms.'

'An elective despotism was not the government we fought for.' - Thomas Jefferson

I would say there are two reasons.

(1) Money - Money - Money

(2) Experience - I can honestly say I like an actor that steps out of his comfort zone and plays a part that challenges his ability.

Now, if I was an actor that was very outspoken in regards to a certain topic, I dont think I would play a part that supports what I speak out against. But just because someone doesnt believe in domestic violence (for example), I wouldnt fault them for playing the part of a character who beats their wife. Depends on the sitution and the context, I guess....
