The recovering addict is one of several winners of Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting's(FAIR) P.U.-litzer awards to public persons who have made absurd, irrational, incorrect or just plain STUPID statements in the media.

Here is Limbaugh's award winning effort:

<<
After 29 workers died at the Upper Big Branch mine in West Virginia, talkshow host Rush Limbaugh (4/9/10) fingered the culprit: the miners' union. "Where was the union?" he asked. "The union is generally holding these companies up demanding all kinds of safety. Why were these miners continuing to work in what apparently was an unsafe atmosphere?" As it turned out, the mine, owned by notorious union-buster Massey Energy, didn't have a union. Alerted to his inaccuracy, Limbaugh (4/15/10) doubled down, saying that 85 union coal miners won a decision against Massey and were re-hired. "So there were union workers there, and so the United Mine Workers should have been overseeing their safety.... You people, it's been 21 years. At some point you are going to learn: If you go up against me on a challenge of fact, you are going to be wrong. It’s just that simple." What's even simpler? Disproving him: Those workers he's talking about are from an entirely different mine owned by Massey--which has appealed the ruling, so even those workers aren’t back on the job yet (AFL-CIO Blog, 4/16/10).>>>

The loquacious lardbag is one of a number of media types from across the political spectrum who nailed down P.U.-litzer prizes. For the full list, go to:

Here is a bonus--Bill O'Reilly's winning nonsense:

<<
During the debate over Arizona's harsh immigration law SB 1070, Fox News' Bill O'Reilly made a case in support of Arizona's crackdown: More immigrations equal more crime. According to O'Reilly, Phoenix's crime problem is "out of control" (5/3/10); in the state overall, the crime problem is "through the roof" (5/4/10, 5/13/10, 5/14/10), it is "overwhelming" (5/6/10). One problem: There was no crime wave in Arizona or Phoenix, where authorities were reporting that crime was actually down--which research suggests is typical in areas with higher immigrant populations (FAIR Action Alert, 5/17/10). After FAIR noted O'Reilly's errors, he actually stopped making them. But he soon found new ways to justify his anti-immigrant stance, like arguing that crime is indeed down along the border--because immigrants have stopped coming into the country (FAIR Blog, 6/21/10).>>>

So... was this because you're pro-union, you hate Limbaugh, or you felt compelled to "enlighten" everyone on these subjects?

Why would you demand of me that I disclose a motive for posting what I did? There is a constant cascade of anti-Obama criticism on this forum and I never demand that the posters of such stuff disclose their motives.

Limbaugh is the wildly embraced darling of the untra-rightists, who have lots of trouble reckoning with legitimate, fact-checking journalists who can clearly show him to have widely missed the mark. For the sake of being "fair and balanced," I believe the lies, distortions, and fabrications of Limbaugh should be pointed out, such that perhaps even the sheeple will untimately come to realize what a hip-shooting, sloppy reporter of current events this overfed, overpaid clown truly is. FAIR has done a good job of that with its P.U.-litzer award.

So you admit that the "constant cascade of anti-Obama criticism" is accuarate reporting of his mistakes and you just want to balance that out?
If you will say that, I would respect your stance.

Not exactly non-biased is he?

Where is the counterpart for the rightwing giving awards for misinformation and if there were one I wonder if Faux News would get honored????????? Roll Eyes Of course not, King Murdock and Prince Ailes wouldn't allow it!

If you intend to point out all of the lies of Limbaugh and Fox News you have waaay too much time on your hands, because that is a full time job for a large staff of people.
Liberal progressives need to get a life. You guys spend every waking minute searching the internet to find mistakes or mis-quotes attributed to Fox or conservative pundits. Do you ever wonder why you don't see postings about MSNBC, Maddow, Olbermann, or any other liberal host? I'll give you a hint, it's not because there's not plenty to post about. We have better things to do than search the net looking for material like you guys do.

Well a challange, I will match you post for post ferrellj. The reason you don't post them is YOU CAN'T FIND THEM!!!!!!!! Cool
How about Al Bore winning the Nobel Peace Prize? That's WAAAAAY more absurd than the award Limbaugh won. At least Rush ACTUALLY DOES SOMETHING to win awards. Bore knowingly lies about global warming and has for years. Almost every single "climate change" conference to bring attention to global warming has been met with record cold temperatures. Other events thrown for global warming awareness haven't gone well either, like the Arctic expedition that resulted in some members being hospitalized with frostbite, or the concert in Africa that had poor attendance because of the cold. Way to go, Al!
MSNBC's Rachel Maddow (CNSNews.com) – MSNBC news host Rachel Maddow corrected the record for misquoting Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) on her Feb. 9 broadcast -- when she incorrectly claimed that the senator had praised federal economic stimulus spending. But she apparently has misquoted the senator again and, as Inhofe’s office told CNSNews.com, “We appreciate that Rachel is a proud liberal defending the massive government spending bills now flowing out of Washington, but hope she will consider making another correction.”

Maddow, host of “The Rachel Maddow Show,” a political news and commentary program on MSNBC, said on Feb. 9, “Senator Jim Inhofe of denying global warming fame, he trashed the stimulus, voted no, and then praised its effect in his home state by saying it would help spur additional economic growth.” (The $787 billion economic stimulus bill became law in February 2009.)

But on Feb. 10 of this year, Maddow told her audience: “Well, today we heard from one of the Republican politicians that we called out, Republican Senator James Inhofe of Oklahoma. His office was upset with our coverage last night. And I will tell you, we do have a correction to make.”

No the reason is because NO ONE WATCHES THOSE MORONS EXCEPT FOR LEFTIST LOONS!!! Fox dominates the ratings because not only conservatives watch, but so too do independants who have abandoned the lib progressive rags, and even left/center folks who are tired of the Obama worship and constant conservative bashing that goes on on those other networks. I guarantee you that Fox employees more liberal minded folks than MSNBC does conservative minded folks. Hannity and Huckabee are the only "Republican" spokesmen on Fox, and Beck is really the only outspoken constitutional conservative/libitarian on the network. But POLITICIANS hate Beck, not just libs. O'Reilly leans conservative but is a moderate at best. Geraldo...really?? lol. John Stossel... really?? lol... Juan Williams.... really? lol... Kirsten Powers... really? Alan Colmes... really? lol

There are not conservatives on those other networks that rival the liberalism of the folks you see on Fox. Hate all you want, but the facts are not in your corner on this one.

Probably not. You and other wingers probably don't post alleged misstatements by progressive media types because you probably never--or hardly ever--watch them enough to have any real notion of what they are saying. You most likely have yourself so attuned to and glued to the nutterances of Hannity, Limbaugh, Savage and their ilk that you can't spare any time to hear a dissenting view.

I listen to and watch those wingers and that places me in a position to offer criticism and challenges to the drivel they put out.

The global warming we had at Christmas has finally melted. It was beautiful while it lasted. You notice they don't have a lot to say about old Al anymore.
