To demonstrate the limitations of his power to his people, King Canute ordered the tides to recede, without success. Obama predicted the oceans would recede upon his assumption of the presidency. Oops!  Commander-in-chief in Latin is Imperator, from which the word emperor is derived.  Enough, already!

TRUTH -- THE NEW HATE SPEECH!

No, Obama cant have things entirely his way; Obama had an inauguration, not a coronation. When the founders created the Constitution they didn't want a democracy with its tendency for tyranny by the masses, they wanted a republic with checks and balances to protect the rights of individuals.

And by-the-way, for this year both parties came to an agreement on the budget with the Dems getting more things they wanted than the GOP.

i LOVE how the regressives blame everything on obama and never see any fault with the 'do nothing' people they chose to elect.

You do realize that it isn't the job of congress to blindly agree with whoever is in the WH right?

Why should the repubs pass every dem idea and the dems not pass any repub ideas?

I understand that you are Democrat and as a result you think Democrats do no wrong. However, both parties are to blame.

once again, kenny, you're guilty of the very things you accuse the liberals of doing... you've just 'lumped' me in with all the democrats.. all while you complain about people doing the same thing, to you! nowhere did i , nor have i ever, said congress should blindly agree with the president, but where exactly have the republicans 'compromised' on ANYTHING? i realize you have a strong dislike of democrats and as such, your judgement is clouded by your resentment. the 'do nothing republicans' have brought this on themselves.

Harry Reid is sitting on about 200 bills passed in the House, including about 33 sponsored by Democrats  That old Harry won't allow a vote show how much he distrusts his own members.  As a reminder, one of the president's main jobs is to enforce the laws passed by the congress.  The constitution does not allow him to send a proposed bill directly to congress. He must persuade a member of sponsor it. Some constitutional scholar, SCOTUS has shot down 13 of his unconstitutional actions in 9-0 rulings.  Even the liberals in the court couldn't stomach his actions.

A fear of voting has gripped Democratic leaders in the Senate, slowing the chamber's modest productivity this election season to a near halt.

With control of the Senate at risk in November, leaders are going to remarkable lengths to protect endangered Democrats from casting tough votes and to deny Republicans legislative victories in the midst of the campaign. The phobia means even bipartisan legislation to boost energy efficiency, manufacturing, sportsmen's rights and more could be scuttled.

The Senate's masters of process are finding a variety of ways to shut down debate.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., now is requiring an elusive 60-vote supermajority to deal with amendments to spending bills, instead of the usual simple majority, a step that makes it much more difficult to put politically sensitive matters into contention. This was a flip from his approach to Obama administration nominees, when he decided most could be moved ahead with a straight majority instead of the 60 votes needed before.

Reid's principal aim in setting the supermajority rule for spending amendments was to deny archrival Sen. Mitch McConnell a win on protecting his home state coal industry from new regulations limiting carbon emissions from existing power plants. McConnell, the Senate Republican leader, faces a tough re-election in Kentucky.

This hunkering down by Democrats is at odds with the once-vibrant tradition of advancing the 12 annual agency budget bills through open debate. In the Appropriations Committee, long accustomed to a freewheeling process, chairwoman Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., has held up action on three spending bills, apparently to head off politically difficult votes on changes to the divisive health care law as well as potential losses to Republicans on amendments such as McConnell's on the coal industry.

"I just don't think they want their members to have to take any hard votes between now and November," said Sen. Mike Johanns, R-Neb. And there's "just no question that they're worried we're going to win some votes so they just shut us down."

And Harry Reid is as pure as the driven snow.

How is my judgement of dems clouded when I said BOTH  parties are to blame?

Why do you think it is ok for dems to block "repug/tea party" ideas but you think it is wrong for repubs to block democrat ideas?

ok, kenny, do you think it's right for the 'republican do nothings' to darn near filibuster more appointees than EVER in US history, since 2009? do you think that's not obstruction?  where is the 'incentive' to reach some form of bargain.. the republicans made it clear for obama, from day one, they intended to do NOTHING to help... and yet, the republicans elected them. they have a worse approval rating than the president, and yet you and dire LOVE to talk about how low the president's ratings sink.. not one peep about the conservatives.. you can say 'both parties' all you wish, but actions speak louder than words... and the republicans have become known for 'obstruction and lies' and you, for the majority of it, agree with them.

What about Harry reid And his obstructionism? Why do you give you one party a pass for obstructing just because they are the party you vote for?

FWIW, I am fed up with them all. The whole system is rigged, IMO. All of these clowns act like they hate each other in public the. they go back to their offices, drink their scotch, and laugh at us.

The one thing to keep in mind is that all of these congressmen and senators whether they be repubs or dems have the same incentive, and that is to keep their job. Therefore, every action they take isn't going to always be in our best interest but in their best interest.

its why you will never see anything meaningful like comprehensive tax reform passed.

can you show me where i said the democrats had a perfect track record? nope. i'm merely pointing out how the republicans fostered the 'non-compromise' mentality of congress, today... every time a democrat reached across the isle, they got their hand slapped.. for 4 solid years... now, all the regressives wanna talk about is 'harry reid is obstructing congress'.. good grief! the hypocritical outrage is ridiculous.

Crash, was it not Obama who got up on the podium and made the comment.."we won, get over it"....in doing so he fostered the attitude which haunts him today.  As the POTUS he is supposed to represent ALL the people, not just his own constituents. In making a comment like that he brought most of this down upon himself. I give Clinton credit that he was able to make concessions with an oppsoing Congress to get things done.  Although he was successful due to his time in histroy (boom of the internet) he managed to find some leeway on both sides of the aisle.  This president absolutely refuses to compromise. He had the opporuntiy to do so, and by doing that he could show the Republicans up, instead he wants to get up on the stage spout class warafre and call for tax increases.  That is no way to foster compromise.  The governemnt was set up with checks and balances to keep one group from running rough shod over the other, and in this case it is working. The only way to stop a corrupt biased leader to create gridlock, which is what has happened.  people like Harry Reid hold fast to grudges and he will refuse to sompromise either.  He is holding on to power and doesn't give one care about who he hurts to do it.

5. Kenny has a blank avatar signifying he could jump ship anytime should the union members show up at his door.

6. Reserved

and wasn't it boner who said, before obama took office, 'our main objective is to make obama a one term president?"  funny how little the republicans remember about their own party.. and what they can remember about the 'other party'... down right hilarious.

_____________

for the same reason you always answer a question with a question.

You are the one who answered my question with a question in this thread.
