I can't for the life of figure out how being in a union can give you a better chance at getting work. Sounds like pure propaganda to me. Also, if this is a right to work State then why the hoopalaa about unions in this area? I once was a member of a union in a different state. When I left that job I never worked another one that required me to join a union. I can’t understand why a company would open up here ans cozy up to unions when it doesn’t have too. ****ed unions are the reason most companies have pulled out of the U.S.

Well for a right to work state-There sure are a LOTTA folks out of work....

I guess by Alabama standards I have the right to work, just not the right to work enough to make even a modest living at it.

I'll stick with my union, thanks. They're working for me making sure I can pretty soon make enough money to do slightly more than just struggle to survive.

Go Teamsters!
There are many reasons why jobs are moving off shore. Too many environmental regs, our government selling us out to foreign countries, NAFTA, CAFTA, cheap slave labor overseas, etc, etc, etc......

To say it's all because of unions shows a lack of understanding of world events and conditions. I'm not saying unions are perfect, nothing is perfect. In a world where executives are pilfering company profits and draining workers retirement accounts, the union is the best thing a working man has going for him. There is safety in numbers.
I was a member of a union here in the shoals for three years. When there was work the paychecks were unbelivable. Only problem was I starved more than worked. 1500 a week is great money, except when you have to keep up two households, the one on the road and the one at home. Plus you think Washington DC is bad try being in a skilled craft union. Know what I mean?

labor unions spend alot of money to train workers to do a quality job. they have quality welding programs and their apprenticeship programs are 4 years of schooling. this is why they have good craftsman. the companies have their rules, whats wrong if the workers have their contract if both side agree. i worked in labor union for 36 years before retiring and never regretted it for a moment. I am thankful for what they done for the working man and woman.in a labor union you do not have to suck up to keep your job. just do your job. if you worked nonunion and are happy great, i have no problem with anyone that works.

Policies the labor unions strongly fought, only to be told by republicans that we were interfering in job growth. The republicans will know blame the unions and democrats for these policies. Do your research and see with party overwelmingly supported these policies.
