I haven't been to Logan's Roadhouse in quite a while so this last week I gave them another try for lunch since I had a 25% off coupon.  I was thrilled to see they have a new menu and they finally corrected a horrendous mistake (my personal opinion) that they made a while back when they removed and did away with the popular Steak Teriyaki and Chicken Teriyaki meals.  I've also always liked Logan's Roadhouse rolls so I was optimistic when I sat down to lunch the other day.

I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki and it came with two, "good sized" breast resting on a bed or rice.  I also ordered the mashed potatoes and brown gravy.  It's been a while since I was able to have the Chicken Teriyaki but my memory was, seemingly, better than reality.  The Chicken was good but they were sparse with their Teriyaki sauce and the taste was good but not great.  I was also disappointed with their rolls in that they were undercooked and almost to the point of appearing doughy.

Another couple of things that apparently hasn't changed though is that I never saw a manager go around checking with the patrons as to how their meals was and the reviews they have received on some food review sites is horrible and sub-par.

Another thing that hasn't changed is that the, newer, Muscle Shoals, Alabama location continues to score much lower than the, older, Florence, Alabama location.  One thing that I attribute that to is the store Management and employees at each of the locations.  Logan's has a nice atmosphere in which to dine but when compared to restaurants like Longhorn, Outback, and Texas Roadhouse their quality and taste just can't compete and keep up.  I had hoped I could score them higher as I really used to like Logan's Roadhouse and would eat there often but although I am glad to see them rectify removing the Steak and the Chicken Teriyaki the quality and taste just isn't to the place it needs to be for me to add it back into my dining rotation.  That and there are so many other places that are outstanding.

I know there are plenty that really do like Logan's Roadhouse and bear in mind this is my own subjective opinion based upon my own experiences.  Another may find Logan's great and well worth going and if so please share your own opinions and experiences after this so others will not have to rely just on my evaluation.  I, actually, want to see all our restaurants thrive and survive but some need to make far more improvements than others.

Logan's once was my favorite place to eat and I used to go there at least once a week, but it has been over 2 years since I have been. My complaint is very simple and I could have easily overcome it if it had not been the attitude of some of the servers who I had made an inquiry to as well as the refusal of Logan's corporate to reply to my request.

I have to watch my sugar consumption due to a pre diabetes situation. I love sweet potatoes and they are a better alternative to the regular potato. Logan's cinnamon come pre mixed with brown sugar which I have asked for the cinnamon alone, which cinnamon itself is good for my condition but the sugar depletes the benefit  of it. A manager once told me that it the cook manager wanted to he could pick up some local, so I waited several months and that did not happen. I told my server at that time that it would be my last time to visit there and she didn't seem to care .

So that was about 2 years ago. I have even recently made a request to their website and still have not heard anything back from them. I guess they simply do not want my business. that is sad because when I make the same request at the Texas Roadhouse, they supply with no problem at all, so I guess I will be going to Texas from now on.

You should bring your own cinnamon, I also bring my own salt & pepper
and a spray bottle of alcohol to disinfect condiment bottles.
Good quality plasticware is essential. An as always water no lemon
with a straw. I find cargo pants are more comfortable and there's
other ideas I use, you might have some of your own.

Ideas...bring a pillow so you can nap while you wait for your food...bring your own food and ask them to cook it for you...insist they wash the utensils in front of you...or yes...bring high quality plastic ware...bring your own sippy cup and you can skip the straw...if you want a drink byob and have them give you ice for your sippy cup...insist on more rolls and a take out box to take them home with you...

Reminds me of when UMI Japaneese Steakhouse opened one of their "special" rooms that was on the way back by the bathrooms, was set up for reclining on the floor eating, apparently the traditional Japaneese way.  I think they have changed that now but it was that way when they opened.  I believe there was pillows around the table also.  As for me, at my age, if I got down there, that low, and reclined by the table with a comfortable pillow close by I'd be tempted to dine and snooze together.  Then the way my knees pop when trying to get up from being down on the floor someone somewhere would be thinking that fireworks were going off.
