All of my friends always raved about how good it is. Some go once a day. So, I finally decided to give it a try a couple months back. The infamous rolls that are always praised were NOTHING special. They were HARD, cold and doused in an excess of greasy butter. My nacho appetizer was actually the best part of the meal. They were tasty. I ordered a regular hamburer steak, fries and mac and cheese. Hamburger steak was nothing I can't do at home. It was very dry. The fries were absolutely 100% dry with no seasoning. The mac and cheese tasted like easy mac.

In terms of service, they were very good. I never ran out of drink. They were constantly coming to my table. Over all, they were very nice.

I don't really see myself going back in the near feature. The food just wasnt special to me.
My wife and I took our two boys (5 and 1) and my in-laws to Logan's Friday night. The service was excellent (thanks, Thomas) and the food was more than excellent. My ribeye was the best I've had in a while: better than one I had at Oh! Bryan's recently. My oldest devoured his steak tips and fries with help from his baby brother. The rolls were HOT, not cold or hard. I've never had a bad experience there.
beter, I've tried the pork chops. You're absolutely correct!
For those that don't like Logans but are still looking for a "great" steak I would be interested in hearing what you think about Longhorn Steakhouse. The bad news is that you will have to drive to Huntsville or Decatur to try one. Their "Outlaw Ribeye" (bone-in) is one of the best, flavor wise, I have ever got from a chain restaurant.

My personal feeling is that Longhorn is at the top of the Chain Steakhouses but for the ones around the Shoals I'd have to choose Outback as the local winner.
Outback has good food. Wish I could afford to eat there more often. LOVE Texas Roadhouse. Have never had any complaints there. Their ribs are delish...Bread... always good. Only been to Logans a few times , much to my dismay they can never get it right. Nothing there impresses me. Last time we went in for their special pricing meals only to discover it was Mon-Thurs. like 3-6 p.m.
For my two cents worth, given the chain steakhouses I'd have to rank them in this order.

#1 - The Chop House (Pigeon Forge, Knoxville, Chattanooga and a few other locations) Might should have left this one off due to being such a limited number of restaurants but their steaks are first rate.

#2 - Longhorn Steakhouse (Huntsville & Decatur are the closest) much larger chain and has great quality steaks and a cut above the other similar chains listed below.

#3 - Outback

#4 - Texas Roadhouse & Logans .. either or often one outshines the other and then the next time it's visa versa

Sorry I know there are more but those are the ones that comes to mind from what I've tried. I know there are some that would be rated better such as Ruth's Chris and Houstons but those are either much farther away and much higher priced.

Locally I also love Stanfields and Western Sirloin (Moulton, AL) and Legends for locally owned places that have great steaks. Dales and Georges of course as well as Crocodile Ed's have provided great steaks in the past but unfortunately both Georges and Dales provided some very bad meals the last two times I ate there and management never made an effort to correct it or atone for it so with so many other places to go we have let Georges and Dales rest for a while. I'm sure there are others but those are the ones I've tried.

Chili's, Applebees, TGIF, Ruby Tuesdays and O'Charlies have from time to time surprised me with a good steak but due to their menu selection changes and subtractions we hardly ever patronize them any more.

Just my humble opinion from what I've tried.

Worst service ever at Logan's Roadhouse yesterday. The little lady and I walked in and there was a wait for a table so we opted to sit at the bar. Couldn't get acknowledged, much less waited on by two bartenders after 15 minutes. The dude stood talking most of the time and the chick spent all her time getting to go orders ready instead of waiting on customers in seats. No management in sight. It will be a long time before either of us go back to Logan's.

We went to Applebee's and were waited on immediately.

Fern bars are essentially generic restaurants.  They vary according to the quality of their store's management, and motivation of the service staff.  None will provide quality steaks, as they're serving USDA choice steaks--not prime beef.  But, you're not paying $28 per steak a la carte.

To get the really good steaks, you've got to go to a restaurant that's paying $11 per lb. wholesale for their steaks vs. $5 per pound.  I'm talking about Mortons' or Ruth's Chris Steak House.  The 360 Restaurant was serving Buckhead Beef last (and only) time I ate there.

The really best I've ever had were at Bones on Piedmont in Buckhead, or at Chops a block away.  The drinks are stiff, and the places are full of old men with young women.

We ate at RoadHouse one time, & will never go back. Never been to Demo's. Smiler

never been to Demos's ? how odd

Demo's & Applebee's  have my vote.

Don't care for the noise, slick floor or crowding at the Roadhouse, and if it comes off the grill at Logan's it's gonna' have that burnt taste from the burnt residue that has never been cleaned off the grill since opening day it seems. But somebody loves Logan's and The Roadhouse because they seem to have a waiting line through out the week-end from 6-8 every night. I made up my mind years ago not to  stand in line unless it was for free money, so I haven't stood in line since......I haven't received bad service or hard rolls any where, but then I won't sit quietly for either so that may be why.....

Like it or not, but Logans is busy all day long.  Even though their food is not top notch, they have a very loyal clientele--that eat there time and time again.

The only other local restaurants with such large crowds are Red Lobster, Olive Garden and Ryans.  Ryans is another example where quality is not necessarily required to hit a home run in the restaurant business.

Observations:  Ever notice how all many truly obese people eat at Ryans?  Ever notice how the dentally challenged people eat at KFC and Krystals?

And to think that every restaurant up and down Cox Creek is in the top 10% of their chains' in sales.  And, we still cannot get a Hooters--a sure success story.

I never went into Brinley Bros., but I truly love Hooters' wings.

I was traveling in Jamestown, North Dakota one -33 degree December night, and they didn't have any restaurants like the Cracker Barrel.  Only restaurant I was familiar with was Hooters.  I went in and ordered my food.  But, all the waitresses were so dark headed, short and relatively dumpy in stature.  I guess it illustrated that people are a little different all over the U.S.--according to where their ancestors came from.  The Hooters girls in the south are tall, blonde, and slim in some places--and I like'em that way.
