ELOHEL   This preacher oughtta read his own signs once inna while...  SRSLY.

That's HIS shiny red BMW parked the wrong way in front of the front door of the church at the intersection of Central and Spurr streets in Florence.. I have to swerve around it every day.on my route.

Wonder how many needy kids that'd feed?

Some christians aren't perfect-They just expect YOU to be.

I'm pretty sure. I pass the church and the guy's residence along my routes. Same guy in both places every day.  This is in east Florence.

Most folks in east Florence live in falling down houses and drive whatever 20 or 30 year old cars that haven't quite yet collapsed into the landscape.

The tag (shoulda got a pic of it-next time) has a religious word on it and it is always there from early midday on.

@1130:

Ya oughtta see the pearl white Lincoln Navigator (also with religious worded tag- "APOSTL" or something like that.).  Was that 'donated', too?  I wonder.

I just thought it funny that he's preachin' humility this week....

I reckon it's hard to be humble when you're blangin' up the place with high-end cars.

Jealous?  Hardly.  I've been fairly well off and I've been nowhere with nothing.  Don't make me no nevermind either way.  Hills and valleys and all... Y'know.

But I've never tried to get rich off of 'god.'

Looking around at all the fortress churches and fancy cars, I see I'm in the wrong business...

But on the other hand pup you have tried kicking everybody in the South in the teeth. I can assure you it ain’t gonna work. “go to church”  you actually sound like ‘church people’ down under that silly disguise.

Everybody has a so b story pup. You are just like everybody else quitchurbeechin.

Yer missin' th' point, buf.

If yer gonna preach humility-it behooves ya to 'practice what ya preach.'

Yer credibility pukes itself when yer tellin' everybody else to be humble and yer stylin' an' profilin' yerself.

That's like The Donald telling us we gotta tighten our belts.

Yadig?

Mebbe some of these 'pillars of the community' could stand a rap inna chops, eh?

I ain't makin' this stuff up, hombre viejo..

Camera don't lie.

Sure-There's lotsa rich hypocrites all over the country-but only in Jesusland is there such an abundance of 'em using 'god' as a means to accumulate such wealth.

Why? I dunno...mebbe because there's such an abundance of gullible, superstitious people in the south?  Could be..

*Everybody knows that robbing people with a gun or a knife gets ya prison time....But robbing people with The Word gets ya rich.*

The word is hole, not whole.

Tell me exactly who I'm being a butt hole to. Bill? Gingee? You? I will stand up for what I believe & give my opinion. I will ask questions if someone says something that's "out there". I will defend when I see someone attacked needlessly. I will defend myself when I'm called a liar. Need I go on?

You have been accused of having several ID's, accused of following people around on another forum, accused of harassing those people. You post crazy things, say terrible things about others, & you accuse me of being a butt hole to everyone all the time? That's rich, especially coming from you!

Of course RP knows I'm going to disagree about one thing. These mega churches with their BILLIONS of dollars simply could not get as bloated as they are if they were only feeding off the "gullible" people in the South, or even the USA. Their tentacles reach all over the world and they suck off all the "believers". Are there some big fish in small ponds? Of course, but that is in every community in the country.

Of course you're right, Best.

There's gullible, superstitious people all over the world-But I can't see them from here.

Never in the years I've been alive have I seen so many churches packed into such a geographically small area as I've seen in the south.  Never have I seen anywhere else the huge mountainside monoliths that I've seen in places like Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Georgia.

Never have I seen so many churches packed into a single TOWN as I've seen just here in the Shoals.

I can leave my driveway and drive around the block and pass no less than six churches.

Never before have I seen HUUUUUUGE, palatial mega-churches (The recently built "Wal-Mart"-sized 'Bright Clouds' Church in New Milford, CT notwithstanding- but there's no other churches around it for about fifteen miles) anywhere else but in the south.

All that evidence around me tells me that my statement isn't too far from the truth.

In my former community, I had to really drive a ways and look hard to find a church.  Any church.

You could give directions by the denomination of the church there were so few of them.

Here, when somebody says "turn left at the church", I gotta ask 'em to please pick a different landmark because there's a church on every corner.

Kinda like "Go down about three red lights...." And I'm counting........OK....That one's green........THAT one's green.......Uh-oh........THAT one's green, too...........S#!t......

Cracks me up.

I didn't turn this thread into a north-south thing. Buf did. That's not my intention- and I'm not picking on anybody except the hypocrite that suggests on his church's sign that everybody should be humble-except him.

I don't care if that Bimmer is the pastor's car or not either.  I DO however find the situation worthy of much mirth and guffawing.

If what's in that pic isn't a case of "Do as I say-Not as I do", I dunno what is...

Yeah, buf....Lemme clarify that some...

I've pretty much lived in the country everywhere I've ever lived. I DO live 'out in the county.'

I fergot yez guys are used to thinking in square blocks 'round here.

Where I'm from-A 'block' is any short, circuitous route leading back to it's point of origin.

It's just easier to say 'around the block' than it is to say the names of the couple roads on said short, circuitous route.

Once, 'around the block' meant 'to Stockbridge, MA and back via Wasaga Beach Ontario, Canada,'

It could also mean 'to Boston for a cuppa coffee and back.'

Or just 'around the block.'

They dinna call me the "Road Puppy" fr nothin.'
