Well guys and gals, it looks like we aren't going to get that Longhorn over by Kohl's in Florence.

The following is a letter from Michael in Guest Relations:

Dear Xxxxxx:

Thank you for visiting longhornsteakhouse.com.

We appreciate your desire to have a LongHorn Steakhouse restaurant in your
community. Thank you for the invitation. At this time, our expansion plans do
not include locations in or near Florence, AL. However, we are always looking
for new sites for future expansion. Your suggestion will be shared with those
responsible for site selection.

If Guest Relations can be of further assistance, please write us again through
our website at www.longhornsteakhouse.com. We look forward to a future
opportunity to serve you in our restaurants.

Sincerely,

Michael

I love my red meat, but don't we have enough steak houses already? I wish Famous Dave's would come back, closest thing to decent BBQ we've had in the area.
Yay..another chain restaurant in the Shoals.. I actually ate at the HSV one on Univ Drive Sat nite and it was great. Good steak, draft beer selection, and decent atmosphere. However, I think that the Shoals is already saturated with restaurants with similar offerings.. Support your local businesses! There's no Ricatoni's outside of Florence.

i liked it when it was (?), the place before it was famous dave's (i can't even remember what it was called, but it was good.....)

The cornbread was great. Yes it was sweet, but that's a specific type of cornbread/corn muffin. Like someone saying..they don't like rye bread, because it's brown.
Hopefully moving back to the Shoals soon I would more than anything like to see a Longhorn built in Florence or Muscle Shoals but I doubt it will happen with the economy and the fact that Texas Roadhouse built by the mall. Texas Roadhouse and Logans though steakhouses aren't anything like Longhorn. The QUALITY and taste of the steaks, Prime Rib and Ribs at Longhorn can't be compared to Texas or Logans. Longhorn serves a lot better steak, in my opinion, and thankfully here where I live at now they have a Longhorn at the next exit but when I move back to the Shoals, unless something changes, I'll be traveling to Huntsville from time to time to enjoy Longhorn.

I wish the rumor was true because, to me, Longhorn beats Logans, Texas, and Outback hands down.
I just read the article - and noticed the hype about Hooters in the area - yeah RIGHT like that will happen! (Although I wouldn't mind this one bit I love going there for wings and to watch sports games)... Of course I know everyone will freak out if that happens.

They're still pushing for it back home in Maryland where I used to live and it's been shut down - if an open minded community where I used to live isn't ready for it... there's no way Florence will allow this to happen (or at least most of the citizens of the town won't)...
I live near HSV and we have all of those here. I think Longhorn's food is a step up from Logan's, but the menu offerings are sooo similar to Logan's and TX Roadhouse. A Hooters would actually offer something different than what is currently available in Florence, and despite the abundance of eateries in Florence, I think Hooters would be a hit.
I actually wrote the author of that article which was from 2007. Bear in mind that most businesses, even if actually looking for a location will deny it to the end. Maybe they think they can negotiate a better land or lease deal. That said he wrote to me that Longhorn has secured a client, in the area, to research looking for a location for them to build. Another individual was looking to put in a Hooters but has dropped those plans, most likely due to financial hardships.

I think though the area, out of ignorance of mis-perception of what it is would rebel against a Hooters. I visit our Hooters here in McDonough all the time with my wife, we both like it, and I think the best location for a Hooters would be that restaurant floating in the downtown marina.
