What about the black man who beat the 80 year old WWII vet up (who was also black). Or the illegal immigrant who killed that Waterloo girl. Each race has their own bad apples.

That "redneck" singled that Obama supporter out based on political affiliation just as you have singled this story out based on political affiliation.
Shreveport police say they are investigating and the FBI may also get involved to determine if this is a hate crime.(Quote From Article)

While I agree with Zippee about the Peices of excretement that did this,I must say hate crimes legislation is and always has been a waste of freaking paper.A crime is a crime no matter who the victim or the perp is.If it had af ben a white Obama supporter would that have been better?
beternU I believe your statements are misleading. The article states that the person who was arrested was from Texas, not Louisiana. I lived in the Shreveport/Bossier City area for several years and found that there seemed to be quite a lot of tolerance there. With the military base located there the residents not only "tolerate" a lot of mixed americans and non americans but seem to welcome them.
This thread makes me want to puke .

Eh lets white bashing go on here daily ,but Lord dont say one word about the dear muslims ,blacks , mexicans , they all have rights and should not be called towel heads , dot heads , or any unkind words ,but its ok to call white people names with her . Like I said ,its sickening how she is a white hater .

Hate crime laws = criminalizing your thoughts.

But in criminal law, doesn't "intention" also cross into this realm? Otherwise only the act in its purest form could be prosecuted.

No one can be prosecuted solely for their intent. There has to be other elements of the crime. I can intend to kill someone, but if I take no physical action to further that intent, I cannot be prosecuted. Intent adds no extra penalty to a crime, and is defined as a necessary element of most crimes.

Hate crimes add an additional penalty to an act that is already criminal based on actual or perceived prejudice towards select groups. No intent is needed, only that the prejudice exists.

Didn't someone who has posted in this thread just use the term "camel humper" in another thread?

Yes I did.Does that offend you?

No one here is capable of offending me. It is just funny that people were jumping all over libs and gays for calling names and someone in another thread used a slur. Enjoy.

- Yes they can. It's called "conspiracy."

No, they can't. The definition of a conspiracy requires two or more enter into an agreement to commit an unlawful act.

So, first it requires two or more for it to be a conspiracy. Second, they have to have intent to commit the act. Third, they have to agree to do the unlawful act.

No one can be prosecuted for their intent.
