Pizza shop survives threats, re-opens today in Indiana

A pizza shop owner in Indiana, who became the center of controversy in recent days, is going back to work today.

Memories Pizza in Walkerton closed down temporarily, and its owners went into hiding, after homosexual activists targeted owner Kevin O'Conner and his daughter, Crystal.

What crime did they commit? Crystal answered a question – truthfully – from a TV news reporter (see video below), telling her that Memories would serve homosexuals but would never cater a same-sex wedding.

"Because of what we believe," Crystal told The Daily Mail, "we cannot condone a wedding. But anyone is welcome into this shop, and we will serve anyone, but we will not participate any way in a gay wedding. "

It was just a hypothetical question – and who has pizza catered at a wedding reception?

But the firestorm began, and the family shut down and hid from the public amid threats.

A coach at an Indiana high school, now suspended, used Twitter to invite others to go with her to "burn down" the pizza shop.

"The wrath of gay rights supporters rained down on Memories Pizza because O'Connor committed a thought crime," Kirstin Powers wrote in a USA Today commentary. "She discriminated against nobody, but thinks the 'wrong' thing about same-sex marriage and she said it out loud."

The staff of The Blaze began a fundraising campaign at GoFundMe.com, resulting in over $842,000 in donations for the father/daughter team.

"It unnerved me to see things like that," Kevin O'Conner said of the backlash and threats. "But once the support started coming back, those became secondary. They scare you, they make you nervous, but the kind words we've got since then has outweighed so much of that."

Part of the funds will be used to offset losses during the past week but most will be donated to charity, The Daily Mail reported.

Some of the funds will also go to Barronelle Stuzman, the Washington florist who was fined for not making an arrangement for a same-sex wedding.

All I'm interested in is how a person acts/treats me and my workers while in my business. Other than that I couldn't give a flip about their lifestyle unless they are a truly despicable character. I don't happen to think being a homosexual makes a person despicable. Maybe I could ask all the men that come in if they are w****mongers, and ask all the women customers if they are w****s, or ask who's cheating on their spouse or beating them. Or ask if any of them are divorced and remarried OR shacked up with some guy pumping out little ba***** kiddies. I could ask how many of them have little grandkiddies that got here without the benefit of mommy or daddy being married. Or ask if their son is paying his child support or are taxpayers raising their kids or grandkids? There's so many other things that should bother someone besides a person's sexual orientation. Funny how that works. And no offense, but one of the worst reasons in the world to support a business is because it discriminates.

CHICK

People have been camped outside of a soon to open Chick-Fil-A in Bellevue Washington for days because the first 100 people in line will get a free sandwich. If you’re doing the math that’s verging on twelve cents an hour. What makes this especially concerning is these people are geared up with state of the art camping gear from the local REI that costs as much as my car. This represents some sort of mass psychosis and might explain the whole Fast and Furious franchise. People like to get in line. If the company was smart they’d pass out the sandwiches already and get these weirdos the ***** off their property. Go ahead and run their papers when you ring them up because a few of these people are hiding bodies. If this is anyone you know, change your contact information and never go on Facebook again. They’re going to take you down with them.

Well I guess they can hope that none of them are gay, and that they might accidentally give them a free sandwich.

"It unnerved me to see things like that," Kevin O'Conner said of the backlash and threats. "But once the support money started pouring in, those became secondary.

Nothing like getting over 800 grand for nothing except being a bigot.

You sound angry.

Are you a homosexual?

You sound angry.

Are you a homosexual?

You sound like an idiot. Are you an idiot?

What part of my post sounds angry or would make you ask if I was gay? Actually I think it's funny.  I'm straight and really thinking I should make the claim that a homosexual gave me a lusty look and it made me sad and made the angels cry.  What the heck, I can use a few hundred thousand. Yep, that would sure soothe my feelings.

You sound jealous?

Are you the  owner of a failing business?

Perhaps you should focus more time on your business, than sitting at a computer, spewing bigot rants at those of religion?

Or, come up with a "scheme" to milk your type of people out of money.

Good Luck. With the donations.

"Your Type" of people probably squeeze a penny until Abe squeals Uncle.

So it's okay for you to have a place of business open to the public, and refuse service to blacks, Jews, and people in wheelchairs just because you are a sorry bigot?

OF?

Are you the  owner of a failing business?

 Nope.

Perhaps you should focus more time on your business, than sitting at a computer, spewing bigot rants at those of religion?

Well, considering I work at my computer during the day and I just now finished working on the webpage, how do you propose I spend MORE time at my business? Total time to read and post on these forums might run 30 to 40 minutes per day. What bigot rants to what religious folks?

Or, come up with a "scheme" to milk your type of people out of money.

The pizza folks and others like them have already come up with a scheme, I'm just debating on whether or not to use it.

Good Luck. With the donations.

I should do fine. All I have to do is even hint that a homosexual 'done me wrong' and I will be swamped with donations. Bet you even slip me a few bucks, cause I'm gonna play it up big.

My type? Hold on, let me check the ID name you chose one more time. Hmmmmm Now, what was that you were you saying about 'my type'?

There you go.

If, I invest MY money into a business,

Ask NOTHING from the Government.

PAY the Government for a license.

And, abide by all rules, should I have to serve "pickles" on Hot Dogs of my recipe?

It doesn't call for pickles!

What if I don't tell him I'm a Jew?

Would that be misleading?

____________

Let me understand - you believe that it is okay for a business open to the public to discriminate against blacks, Jews, people in wheelchairs?

This aint about blacks, Jews, people in wheel chairs.

Pay attention!

It's about a business owner choosing NOT to attend an event that goes against his/her morals.

The wedding party was FREE to order as many pizza's as they wanted.

Just no "attendance" by the owner.

What part of that is bigotry????
