After reading the thread about global warming for the last couple of weeks, it brought to mind something I had heard before but had never really looked into. So off I go to look up man made weather. Here is what I found.

US aerospace forces [will] 'own the weather' by capitalizing on emerging technologies and focusing development of those technologies to war-fighting applications... From enhancing friendly operations or disrupting those of the enemy via small-scale tailoring of natural weather patterns to complete dominance of global communications and counterspace control, weather-modification offers the war fighter a wide-range of possible options to defeat or coerce an adversary... In the United States, weather-modification will likely become a part of national security policy with both domestic and international applications. Our government will pursue such a policy, depending on its interests, at various levels.(US Air Force, emphasis added. Air University of the US Air Force, AF 2025 Final Report, Link )
After reading serveral reports and articles on this subject I am torn. On the one hand it is amazing technology and should be in our arsenal. On the other hand it scares the crap out of me.
Could the testing that has been going on in Alaska be the answer to why our weather has been so erratic over the last decade? Could this have an effect on how GW is being studied? Is it all just hogwash? I will keep reading and educating myself on this, but would really like to hear some of your opinions.
I haven't commented on the GW thread basically because I am on the fence. There are so many conflicting reports and ideas that I don't feel that I have enough substantial evidence one way or the other to make up my mind on the issue.
