There is no evidence in the Winkler case. If your spouse is abusing you, make some noise, create a paper trail. Go public, these men are cowards and exposing them to the light of justice will cause them to flee. The silent wife is enabling the abuser...I have seen too many of these first hand, while the blood was still on the floor.

I understand what you're saying but I had 2 friends that did make noise, & had that paper trail. Both were killed by their husband.

Unsubstantiated, where is the evidence of abuse?? Documented police complaints, battered spouse shelter documentation?? All you had to persuade this jury was a mousey woman a slick attorney. There was a miscarriage of justice in the Winkler case. If the court didn't get her the Multiple Sclerosis will. You play, you pay.

She never reported the abuse, though friends & some of her family members did see bruises at times. She was afraid no one would believe her, what with him being a preacher. He often put a pillow over the baby's face to stop her from crying, which had happened the night before the shooting. He often put his gun to Mary's head to intimadate her. According to court records, this man was a real jerk, while wearing the hat of a Christian.

Bruises...?? Okay, suppose we stipulate that some type of abuse did happen, even though not supported by evidence, DID the injury (bruises and mental intimidation) rise to the level of EXECUTION/MURDER??? Mary the prosecutor, judge, jury and executioner will be punished. Maybe with MS she will not live to see her children graduate, marry or have children. Karma has a way of making you pay.

So you wish for her children to see their mother live in pain and eventually die from MS? Funny, aren't you one of the loudest pro-lifers on here? If you really cared about children....

Despite how you feel about Mary, those children love their mother and it would be painful for them to see their mother suffer. Do you not get that? More importantly, do you even care?

Despite how you feel about their father, those children loved their father...you want to be the one to tell them their mother, Mary, Bloody Mary, killed him with a 12 gauge shotgun blast to the back?? Yep, I am pro-life...if you are going to kill you need a really good reason that merits death. Yes, I hope she suffers and dies with pain, panic and distress worthy of a cold blooded, back shooting coward who has murdered and condemned her soul to eternal torture.

I'm sure those children already know that she killed their father. I'm sure they miss him & think of him often. I agree it was wrong, plain & simple, what she did. I can't stand in judgment of her because I've heard horror stories of women being beaten daily & afraid to leave in fear they will be killed, & in a moment of panic/fear, killed their abuser.

From what I know of the Bible anyone can be forgiven any sin as long as they are truly sorry & remorseful. Some people can asked & have faith they have been forgiven for whatever sin. I'm not one of those people, & it's a sad state to be in.

In her interview, Mary Winkler said it is something she lives with each day & wishes she could go back. Sad thing is, she can't & I can't say as you do that I hope she suffers & dies with pain. Her children don't need to live with that & already having to live with the truth of how their father died.
Meanwhile, the next person scheduled to be executed in Tennessee is a woman who was abused by her husband and committed a crime similar to Winkler's. Gaile Owens wanted to plead guilty to murder in exchange for life in prison, but her judge refused. Her defense team declined to use the "battered woman" defense that Winkler used. I wasn't at either of their trials, so I can't say whether either of them deserve to be in prison or not, but the discrepancy in their sentences illustrates the inequalities in our justice system. Here is more information about Gaile Owens:
