like I said till you've been there and done that you ain't got no dog in that race.

OK DF
At the risk of being put on the ignore list here it goes.....I would like to call every ones attention to the word likely in DF's quote. Is it me or do I sense some sort of skepticism in DF's statement. Like maybe some repressed beliefs of a after life peeking out.....hmmmmm....I have always had my doubts about you being a true atheist......I am now wandering if you are not in the closet with ol skep?? And yes you do owe an apology....but not to us but to your loyal followers whom you have now left wandering.....?????? .......
I think it is explained correctly in
1 Corinthians 10:12

Busta, Just once will you evangelicals come up with an original idea. The notion that DF is "skeptical" about his final resting place is totally unfounded. It is as ridiculous as the oft repeated, "You mentioned 'God' so you must believe in him."

Other than quoting the Flat Earth Book, you cannot cite one credible bit of evidence for an after life.

With only the Bible as his authority, Busta is absolutely certain that there is a heaven and hell. But the Bible is itself confused as to an afterlife. "The dead know not any thing, neither have they any more reward," Ecclesiastes 9:5. Then we find the exact opposite in Matthew 25:46, "These shall go away into everlasting punishment; but the righteous until life eternal." Well, what will it be?

And I could just as easily say, except for quoting from the Dawkins Book for Ding Bats, chapter 1, I came from nothing so I must be nothing.....you cannot cite one credible bit of evidence for an after life that does not exist.

You sneaky devil. You have gotten the best of me again. You know that when something doesn't exist, you cannot prove it doesn't exist. Clever you. You can point out that I don't have the mental capacity to provide evidence that the tooth fairy, green unicorns or Zeus doesn't exist. I have been disgraced by Busta!

Please let me correct my hurried response. You cannot cite one credible bit of evidence DISPROVING an after life that you so assuredly claim does not exist.
Dave you might want to consider pursuing a job teaching grammar. It might be more satisfying than the atheist religion bunk you are spinning. Just a thought Cool
There are a few good lines in the Bible, as there are in most religious documents.

However, believing that these documents are perfect in their entirety, serves to help "legitimize" the irrational belief in the mind of the ignorant, stupid and brainwashed.

Are all believers ignorant or stupid? No. Could they be delusion or irrational? Yes.

Read Gardner's work on multiple intelligences or look at other religious beliefs other than your own.

As you cannot cite one credible bit of evidence PROVING an afterlife that you so assuredly claim exists.

It's a matter of faith.

Why are you so afraid of another s faith?

Would that the world was that simple.

Hindus to release earthen statues today - Sri Ganesh

All Praise Ganesh! (Elephant-headed God)

Cleansed of sins and misfortunes, Hindu devotees bid farewell today to life-like murtis (statues) of Sri Ganesh.

When the murtis are immersed into ponds, rivers and the sea, the Lord takes with him the fears, pains and sufferings, Hindus believe.

Hindus have been engaged in worship over the past 10 days in a festival known as Ganesh Utsav.

Starting the 10-day festival, beautifully crafted murtis of Sri Ganesh were sculptured out of earth taken from the river banks. The completed likeness of Sri Ganesh was painted and dressed before taking its place on a pedestal for worship in mandir communities. After 10 days, the earthen statues are returned to the earth by immersion in the water.

Devotees offer prayer, fruits and flowers and place lighted camphors into the water during the immersion ceremony. It symbolises the return of Sri Ganesh to his abode in Kailash, taking with him the misfortunes of his devotees.

Hindu groups will journey to the water front to the sound of tassa drumming and chants, carrying with them the Ganesh murti at the break of dawn. Ganesh Visarjan (final prayer) makes way for pitarpaksh, a fortnight dedicated to the worship of ancestors. Pitarpaksh begins at 12 noon today.

Hmmmm.....just curious.......since I am sure you believe in light........I would like to here your explanation of what it is, since you understand it, even though it still baffles all the scientific world.

LIGHT........I would like to here your explanation of what it is, since you understand it, even though it still BAFFLES all the scientific world.

That just goes to show you what a bunch of fools sit on the Nobel Prize committee. They awarded the Nobel prize to Albert Einstein for his work on the photoelectric effect. This led to the understanding of the quantum nature of light which then led to the concept of wave-particle duality--or the nature of light as we know it.

Busta, you really are not very savvy.
But maybe you do know why God created light as a wave/particle duality rather than just one or the other.

Horse pucky DF... anyone that googles http://library.thinkquest.org/27356/p_index.htm
can come up with that. The answer I seek is why? Why does it produce light? How does it enter an eye and transform into an image in the brain to where a person can ponder that and then put it on a web page for an atheist use in trying to convince a religious person that all of this is so simple that it just happened to fall into place the correct way. I mean really DF your claims are as absurd as me stating that the truck I drive had no intelligent design behind it. That one day these pieces started appearing in someones yard till there was a car in their driveway because evolution decided we needed to ride instead of walk. And I am crazy for believing in the Big Man in the sky???

With you behind the wheel, that is certainly a truism.

*********

Busta points to the eye and tells us that something that complex could not have happened by chance. It has to be the product of an intelligent designer. Actually, it is the complexity of the eye that brings intelligent design into question. In science and technology, simplicity is a virtue. An intelligent designer would have abided by the KISS dictum, “keep it simple stupid.” If the eye were less complex, human beings would not have to deal with macular degeneration, cataracts, poor vision and glaucoma.

The designation "intelligent design" is itself specious. "Unintelligent design" would be more appropriate

Deep, in the Ganesh picture I posted, there is a gentleman wearing a 50's diner hat with an inscription on it, can you translate that for me?

Thanks, 8I

Why, sure, 8I. It says "The Greatest Show on Earth" by Richard Dawkins, in better bookstores Sept. 22.

Purge of Iranian Universities Is Feared

By MICHAEL SLACKMAN
Published: September 1, 2009

CAIRO — As Iran’s universities prepare to start classes this month, there is growing concern within the academic community that the government will purge political and social science departments of professors and curriculums deemed “un-Islamic,” according to academics and political analysts inside and outside Iran.

The fears have been stoked by speeches by the supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, as well as by confessions of political prisoners, that suggest that the study of secular topics and ideas has made universities incubators for the political unrest unleashed after the disputed presidential election in June.
