Always pays to recall - Gore won the popular vote. Bush only won through a constitutional technicality reserved for ONLY the presidential elections. Bush is marginal both intellectually and in his electoral "victories". He never had a mandate, and his performance has been less than stellar. To suggest he was any better than either of his opponents is sheer speculation. Gore nor Kerry could have done little worse. I know its hard to take, but hes an idiot. It takes a real American to accept the fact that party affiliation is less important than the well being, and best interest of this nation. Bush is NOT America, and America is NOT bush. Thank God.

As an individual, I don't think GWB Jr. has gotten many lifeline calls from buddies on "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" or I don't see him doing well on Jeopardy either, but this isn't news.

The major problem created by the hiring of illegal workers is the PAY AND BENEFITS for illegal workers is MUCH lower than pay and benefits for workers with legal status, AND LEGAL PROTECTIONS.

That's stupid. The reason illegals are hired is because they are cheaper. Making them instant citizens will make them more expensive to hire. So they are replaced by the new influx of illegals willing to undercut them.

So now you have 12-20 million new people on welfare and 20-40 million people coming in illegally in hopes to become instant citizens as well so they can get free government money. Yeah, that fixed everything, good thinking.

Let's just say that making Pedro and Juan legal Americans makes all unskilled wages go up.

There is no way our country can afford to round them all up,feed and house them for an undertermined peroid of time while getting them transported back across the border,or to their given country,which BTW is yet another expense on the government.Now remember we are talking about somewhere around 15 million people.
Now local police ANYWHERE will not bother arresting them,unless they commit a crime and bring attention to themselves.Its a minor offense, and the INS will not come to pick them up,(this info I got straight from a cop).
True they are draining our economy and our welfare system,but WHAT is the realistic answer? I read complaint after complaint,but no one ever offers up solutions.
I too am fed up with it. The government is NOT going to close the border,,,,why aren't American citizens closing it? If every working American male took his 2 week vacation time and donated it to the work,and donate the money he would spend on that yearly trip to Fl, to building that fence. I really do not think the government could very well bring attention to a unified effort by its citizens by balking such an effort.

There is no way we can catch all the murderers and rapists. There is no way we can afford to feed and house all of the drug offenders, it would overrun our prisons. There is no way law enforcement has the time, money, or manpower to catch every child molester. So. Let's just let them all go about their lives and not do anything to any of them.

The obvious solution is to enforce the laws already on the books. It is illegal to employ illegal aliens. Hence, illegal alien. So, we should inforce that law. Punish the employers. Any time an illegal gets caught speeding, shoplifting, selling pot, whatever ~ all of their possessions should be siezed, sold, and used to pay for their transportation back to where ever in their home country that it is cheapest to send them to. We can't find them all. We can't send them all back. But we can start.

ahmm, I think I did mention they are arrested when they commit crimes. ,,in fact hardly a week goes by that the TD reports the arrest of some that have committed crimes. Now open your crystal ball and tell us WHO it is going to see to it they get BACK to their country?????? I did state the INS will not bother with them,ask a cop from Russellville they can tell you.

Yes, they are arrested and released. That is wrong. Someone needs to have the responsibility and the authority to send them back. The argument is that it is expensive to ship them back. Then confiscate all their stuff, sell it, and pay for the tickets to ship them to their home country.

I think the borders should be closed off. I think they should have "shoot on sight" orders. It is sick that FRANCE has tighter immigration laws then the US. I don't know what the perfect answer is, but saying "there is no way to catch them all and no way to send them back" isn't the solution.

Deep Fat, what do you thing the purpose of the immigration bill is? It is in now way designed to protect American Workers. It is the same as NAFTA and GAT and CAFTA and the G 8.

IF WORKERS ARE GOING TO HAVE PROTECTION THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE TO GET IT WITHOUT THE HELP OF THE REPUBLICANS, AND IN GENERAL GOVERNMENT.
