Only a complete fool would think Palin is more intelligent than Obama

I did not say more intelligent, I said more qualified. If one spends much time with the intelligentsia, one often finds people lacking the "street smarts" needed to run a hot dog stand, much less a country. Sarah Palin has learned how to be a businessperson and has executive experience in state and local government office. Palin would probably grow into the VP role quicker than Obama will grow into a president.
Please, let's let Sarah go home and get prepared for 2012. I truly hope she is the GOP nominee for the next presidential election. It will be exciting to see how far she has progressed.

Right now she is more popular for television requests and interviews than Barrack ever was. She has requests to be on everything from Oprah to the Today Show. Once McCain's leash was released she began expressing herself. The press loves her right now.

Why? She is great entertainment. You never know what to expect. She is guaranteed to make the news. She is on the way to defining the Republican Party and I'm sure she will have great input on their platform. And if she keeps going in the same direction she will guarantee Barrack Obama a second term.
This is a short run down, not to mention, he promised reps and indies in his cabinet, no Washinton insiders, said Hill was stupid on foreign affairs during the primaries but makes her Sec of State, has now decided to just let Bush tax cuts expire, not increase tax on the upper level, Charlie Rangel talked of cutting corporate tax and capital gains tax, take public funding and so on. I could look up more but its bedtime. Link

Obama's promises, vision to collide with reality

By JIM DRINKARD – Nov 4, 2008

WASHINGTON (AP) — Over a two-year campaign, Barack Obama laid out a vision for the nation's future in soaring speeches that enthralled his audiences. With his victory in the presidential election on Tuesday, those goals will collide with daunting realities.

President Obama will inherit a budget deficit that many analysts say could hit a trillion dollars for the first time in history, severely crimping any promises for tax cuts or spending on new programs. He faces a diving economy that has traumatized Americans trying to buy a home, pay for college or plan for retirement. And he'll confront the complexities of trying to extricate U.S. forces from Iraq, and a resurgent conflict in Afghanistan. A look at Obama's campaign promises and the challenges that stand in their way:

Obama: Broken Promise?
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President-elect Barack Obama may consider delaying an election promise - to roll back tax cuts on high-income Americans - as part of his economic recovery strategy, a senior aide and an adviser said on Sunday.

David Axelrod, one of Obama's closest confidants chosen to be a senior White House adviser, was asked if the tax cut could be ended later than Obama called for during the campaign. "Considerations will be made," he said on "Fox News Sunday."

Obama Promised To Change The Partisan Tone In Washington:

Obama's Election Night Speech: "Let us resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long."(Sen. Barack Obama, Remarks On Election Night, Chicago, IL, 11/4/08)

Obama: "I know that in Washington it is acceptable to say or do anything it takes to get elected, but I really don't think that is the kind of politics that is good for our party, and I don't think it is good for our country, and I think that the American people will reject it in this election." (Ben Smith, "Obama: Clinton Rewrites History," The Politico's "Ben Smith" Blog, Link 1/13/08)

Obama: "We've got to get beyond the small politics ... the slash and burn politics that have become the custom in Washington." ("Obama Denounces 'Slash And Burn' Politics," The Associated Press, 2/19/07)

But Emanuel Famously Earned The Title "Rahmbo" For His Hyper-Partisanship And Bare-Knuckle Tactics:
Obama Selects Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-IL) To Serve As Chief Of Staff In The White House:

"Illinois Rep. Rahm Emanuel Has, As Expected, Accepted The Job As Chief Of Staff To President-Elect Barack Obama, According To Informed Democratic Sources." (Chris Cilliza, "Rahm Accepts," Link Accessed 11/6/08)

It is an extraordinary sight to walk into a basic two-room house under a mango tree in rural east Africa and discover what is essentially a shrine to Barack Obama.

Ahh, that shoe fits perfectly on the other foot, doesn't it?

Being popular on tv was one of the things the Republicans tried to vilify Obama for ("rock star", anyone? Bueller?) - but now that Palin is "popular", it's a Good Thing. Why do I find this so unsurprising?

Hi Zeb,

Not only is Sarah Palin more intelligent than Obama -- she is head and shoulders above him when it comes to honesty. She already has my vote for 2012!

Now, all we have to do is, in 2010, send many of those Liberal Democrats home from Congress and the Senate. Send them back to the farms -- and get the Legislative branch ready for a new president in 2012 -- President Sarah Palin.

I do believe the YouTube Video that Deep gave us last week, of Liberal voters coming out of the polling place after voting for Obama -- is very accurate. Not one single one of them even knew who Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, or Barney Frank are. That is the level of mentality that drove many folks to vote for Obama. And, all we are going to see with the Obamanation team -- is a larger Welfare State. God help America in the next four years.

The only real blessing from four years of Obama -- is that it will make having President Palin all the sweeter. Sort of like putting lemon juice in your ice tea -- before putting in the sugar.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Zeb,
You are right, Obama never said the word 'stupid', he just implied it. He also implied no washington insiders, but hey, you read it as you want to. He's your candidate.
As for making things up, I don't need too, reality is a lot more funny.
I know all the cabinet positions are not filled, but he did the most important first, and they are all dems and Clintonites.

The sharpest exchange at the AFL-CIO forum in Chicago came as Obama defended his stand on threatening a military strike against terror targets in Pakistan with or without the permission of that nation's government.

"I find it amusing that those who voted to authorize and engineer the biggest foreign policy disaster in our generation are now criticizing me for making sure that we are on the right battlefield and not the wrong battlefield in the war against terrorism," declared Obama, alluding to Clinton's vote authorizing force against Iraq.

Clinton, who has called Obama naive, suggested making the threat aloud could destabilize Pakistan and raise the risk of an Islamic fundamentalist takeover in that country, which has a nuclear arsenal.

Clinton went on to say comments from Obama's campaign in the aftermath of former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto's assassination were "a lot worse" than what Johnson said.

Obama's campaign implied that some of Hillary Clinton's foreign policy decisions helped exacerbate problems in Pakistan.

The ex-president called the attack "appalling" and said his wife did not try to turn it into a larger issue, but instead "said 'I disagree' and moved on."

Hillary Clinton did respond then, saying she regretted that Obama's campaign "would be politicizing this tragedy, and especially at a time when we do need to figure out a way forward."

Johnson, a Hillary Clinton supporter, made his remarks Sunday at Columbia College in South Carolina, a state with a large share of African-American voters that holds its Democratic primary on January 26.

Hillary Clinton also has accused Obama's campaign of distorting recent remarks by her and her husband that have touched off concerns among some African-American voters.

Johnson said he has held fund-raisers for Obama but was unhappy with criticisms of the former first lady by Obama's campaign.

"As an African-American, I'm frankly insulted that the Obama campaign would imply that we are so stupid that we would think Bill and Hillary Clinton, who have been deeply and emotionally involved in black issues when Barack Obama was doing something in the neighborhood that -- I won't say what he was doing, but he said it in his book," Johnson said while campaigning at the largely black Northminster Presbyterian Church in Columbia, South Carolina.

In Obama's recently reprinted 1995 book, "Dreams from My Father," the future presidential candidate writes he was once headed in the direction of a "junkie" and a "pothead."

Obama picking Washington insiders for cabinet despite promising change

Thursday 20th November, 04:46 PM JST

WASHINGTON —

President-elect Barack Obama promised the voters change but has started his cabinet selection process by naming several Washington insiders to top posts.

Obama is enlisting former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle as his health secretary. Hillary Rodham Clinton, a well-known Washington personality, seemed more likely than ever to be his secretary of state. Clinton is deciding whether to take that post as America’s top diplomat or stay in the Senate, her associates said Wednesday

Obama is ready to announce that his attorney general will be Eric Holder, the Justice Department’s No. 2 when Clinton’s husband was president. Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s chief of staff, is another veteran of the Clinton White House.

Holder, 57, would be the first black person to serve as the country’s top legal official.

I'm not seeing how this rises to the level of "treason". Not only is Sarah Palin smoking hot, she's reasonably intelligent and has shown a bit of character. She is a fan of firearms (which is my hot button issue) and she's definitely not a Washington insider.

None of the people in the presidential race were ever threatened with being Rhodes Scholars or theoretical physicists. McCain, as a fighter pilot, was probably the best one of the bunch. I know of a few republicans who voted for Obama because they didn't like Palin, which was like being stupidly self destructive. Voting for him because your candidate wasn't republican enough just seems idiotic.

This total antipathy toward Palin confuses me.

There you go again, blaming Carter for what happened during his administration, but you will not blame Bush for what happened during his administration. HYPOCRITE!!!

Comprehension of simile is not really one of your strong suits, is it? Let me explain. He's comparing Obama to Carter. Which is not really fair, since Obama has yet to get into office. Bush will be blamed for whatever went on in his administration, whether or not he had any part of it. Also, he probably won't get any credit for anything that went right. But I'm pretty sure he won't lose any sleep over what any of us may write on the Times-Daily blogsite.

If you need a reminder, during the Carter presidency, inflation was running at 20%, the Iranians held Americans hostage, and the Arabs started the oil embargo. Carter refused to serve alcohol in the White House and his brother Billy sold a second-rate beer.

Do you need a reminder for what has happened in the last 8 years or should I show you what is going on right now?

I'm quite aware of current events. The question that is on the table is whether or not you have any knowledge of history. Even that doesn't show how you can toss a "Blame Bush" bomb into a posting that compares Obama to Carter, unless it is the last vestiges of BDS.

The reason I tossed the "Blame Bush Bomb" is because it has become a trend by several people on here to blame everybody they can besides Bush for the problems that we are facing today. Then in an effort to support their claim that Bush is not the worst president ever they bring up Jimmy Carter and what went wrong during his administration. So If Carter is to blame for what happened during his term then Bush is to balame for what happened during his term.

Following your superb line of reasoning, then Pres Obama will be the blame for everything as of Jan 20, 2009, including the failing economy, loss of jobs, and both war fronts. He should be pleased, as now we can utter, "Obama did It!" with pride.

Oh I'm sure you are going to blame him for Bush's failures. I'm not at all surprised by this. At the end of Obama's term I'm sure that you guys are going to still blame today's problems on him no matter how much better things will be tomarrow. Obama is going to have a tuff road ahead of him but I'm sure that in four years from now we will be better off. As a matter of fact, Flatus, I can't wait to see what you are saying then. I bet no matter how good the economy is, no matter how low the unemployment rate is, no matter how much more the average household income is, you still will not admit that George Bush sucked. Please, Flatus, save this post and get back to me on this in four years. I'll be waiting.
Bush wins no award for leadership from me after the immigration fiasco and his complete and utter failure with the border patrol officers who were convicted and imprisoned for shooting a smuggler. Bush continues to be the target of sound bite politics (Bush Lied; People Died) drivel that seems to run rampant through the left. My experience with the left is that they care little or nothing about the soldiers who die in combat other than using them as some convenient tool to gain power and legitimacy for their causes. Monday morning quarterbacking is easy to do; it's calling the play in real time with your country on the line that separates the men from the boys; and that is where you fail.

Bush won't go down as the greatest president in history; I'll give that to Reagan (so far). He won't go down as the worst, either (maybe Andrew Johnson...?). He'll take the blame for WMDs in Iraq, Katrina, global warming, and the economy and the other participants in those decisions will skulk away, whispering to anyone who cares to listen that they really didn't believe all they told him. He made some good decisions and he made some bad ones; what counts is that he actually made decisions when they needed to be made. Many of our current crop of political "leaders" couldn't make a decision on what flavor ice cream cone to order without a public opinion poll, and that public opinion is shaped by a media who can't believe how much it swayed toward Obama in this election.

What about sending our troops to war for no known reason without armor? Do you think this is disrespectful? I do!! Bush did nothing but treat our troops as if they were disposable for his own selfish reasons that are still to be determined. This is the ultimate disrespect!
