My kids will never know those good fries. I don't know why they changed. People are fatter now than they were back then.

The double cheeseburger is still available. Just not on the dollar menu. There is a special for a limited time of a double cheeseburger value meal for only $2.99.

The 2 Mcdonalds i went to this past week, didnt have them on the menu..Or I must over looked them..I looked for them.

I just ask for it even when it's not on the menu. I haven't been refused yet.
I work close to a McDonald's and if I am really pressed for time I will get lunch from there every once in a while. Eventhough the double cheese burger is not on the menu you can still order it. However, I also work close to a Jack's and they have their double cheeseburger and fries for $2.22 and it is good!

Remember when McDonald's fried their fries in REAL grease? They used to be sooooo good.

I used to ride my bike to McDonald's for those fries after school. I still have dreams about it.

I think that was coconut oil, a common deep frying oil until the health Nazis got involved. Krystal's are pretty close.

I've been boycotting McDonald's since they did away with the super size. I need at least that much Diet Coke to get my day rolling.

When they first opened, they had the mechanical potato peeler where you could see it while you were eating. It was great entertainment.
A gentleman by the name of J. R. Simplot patented the frozen french fried potato in 1953. In 1967 Simplot and Ray Krock (founder of McDonald's) agreed that Simplot's company would supply McDonald's with frozen french fries. It took until 1972 before all McDonald's fries were converted to frozen, but that was the end of the potato peeler that we all remember, well us older folks. And it ended the truly great tasting fries at McDonald's and eventually other fast food restaurants.

He invested his profits in other things as he got money from every frozen fry made. He became the 89th-richest person in the United States. He died in May, 2008 at age 99.

Many of the restaurants and people who want quick fries praise either his actual name or at least his invention. Before his method frozen fries always came out way too soggy. But those of us who love the taste of fresh cut potatoes just aren't sure what to think, and that is being nice.

Here in Jacksonville, FL it is now the McDouble on the menu. It is the same as the double cheese burger except it only has one slice of cheese on it.

The still sell the double cheese burger but the price has risen and the McDouble has taken its place on the dollar menu here.

Does your McDonald's serve the different flavored hot coffee's with whip creme? I asked our local McDonald's about this possibility and they told me that it was coming soon. I'll need to mortgage my home if their mocha coffee with whipped creme is anything similar to Joe Muggs.
