You are owned by "the people". What you have earned is not yours and by extension you don't own any property, because it is all a national resource that belongs to (you guessed it), "the people". At least that the logical conclusion of what that corpulent crap bag says...

All wealth is a nation resource.

WOW MARK!!!!!!!!!! MAN how you can stretch a TITLE for a THREAD!!!!!!!! Eeker
WHERE was "slavery" mentioned in this interview????
And what Michael Moore was REFERRING to was the tax breaks for the top 2%.

Since MOST who read this right wing drivel do not actually follow the link, here is THE REST OF THE STORY and QOUTE from Michael Moore (you really DO have a FOXOPHILED mind, DANGEROUS!)

"I think we need to go back to taxing these people at the proper rates. They need to -- we need to see these jobs as something we some, that we collectively own as Americans and you can't just steal our jobs and take them someplace else," Moore concluded.
Why don't the wealthy Liberals realize that they can send a larger check to the IRS if they are so "outraged"? However, many go to great lengths to avoid paying taxes.

Let's take John Kerry for example. The year he ran for president he the and ketchup queen showed an income of $5m+. However, they paid an effective tax on that money of only 12% due to it being sheltered in trusts and being invested in munis. The averaged middle class family paid an effective income tax rate of nearly 20%. John Kerry also doesn't dock his sailboat in MA because the taxes are lower in neighbooring states. Why would such a "bleeding heart" go to these lengths to avoid paying his share?

Apparently you don't understand the concept of "logical conclusion".

Michael Moore is advocating, defined in it's broadest sense, what amounts to the government having the power to limit an individual's income and property. When the government has that kind of overt control over an individual's life, said individual is essentially a slave to the government. Failure to recognize this is what is truly "DANGEROUS!"

Notice how Moore refers to "our jobs"? As though they belong to the people collectively? The implication is that a business is started to provide jobs, which is completely WRONG. Jobs are a side effect of the initiation of a business enterprise, or of its growth. In other words, Jobs are the effect, not the cause. Moore has it wrong as do you.

Finally, the obstacle for you and your ilk is that you seem to have been convinced that such measures will only apply to the top 2%... it would only be the beginning. "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need." Does that really sound good to you, basically turning everyone into a beggar?

The insistence was that they be included, not singled out.

First, I'm a Libertarian. Second, if you are giving tax cuts for the purpose of economic stimulation then it has to go to the people who pay taxes. The top 5% pay over 50% of the taxes. I would also add that in the EGTRA of '02 a family of 4 that makes $40k went from having a tax bill of $1400 to $0.

You are spewing the same old political drivel. Bring something of substance, not tired old political rhetoric.

As the results of the higher tax rate would be less revenue, yes!
In 2009, 743 people with dual UK/US citizenship renounced their US citizenship, took their wealth and left. Most left to a nation with low taxes -- the US is the only nation, except the Philippines, that taxes income outside its borders.

During the Cold War, only a few did this. More and more, reality appears to be a bad version of an Ayn Rand novel.
I'm sure Moore would agree with this greenie:

"Land is the private property of none. Rather, everyone has the right to beneficially utilize it by working, farming or pasturing as long as he and his heirs live on it - to satisfy their needs, but without employing others with or without a wage. If lands were privately owned, only the living would have a share in it.

Land is permanent, while those who benefit from the land undergo, in the course of time, changes in profession, capabilities and existence.

The aspiration of the new socialist society is to create a society which is happy because it is free. This can only be achieved by satisfying, man's material and spiritual needs, and that, in turn, comes about through the liberation of these needs from the control of others. Satisfaction of these needs must be attained without exploiting or enslaving others; otherwise, the aspirations of the new socialist society are contradicted."

2% of a population working to support the other 98% by gunpoint sounds like slavery to me...

Look, the real issue is if you believe a person "owns" himself and his labor...doesn't matter what is in his bank account...either a person owns himself and his labor...or he doensn't...

I happen to believe he does...call me crazy but I think the federal income tax rate for all should be zero. Just because we have accepted an income tax for a hundred years doesnn't make it right.

Don't think rich or poor...think federal goverment...they can set the income tax rate to anything they want, for any income level...In essense they have the power right now to dictate to anyone at any income level, how much you can make...

Anyone care to define slavery again?

THESE 3 THINGS CANNOT BE SAID ENOUGH Moreover, I agree wholeheartedly with what the Renegade has to say.

With the likes of you quoting him, Mr. Jefferson must be spinning in his grave. You are not worthy to speak his name.
