You are right Pres Clinton and Bush were only on the state level.

Both were 2 term Governors and had records. Usually we elect Governors and not Senators. The last Senator elected was more than 40 years ago.
So if Sen McCain was a new Sen and had the same views as he does today are you saying that you would not support him?
