A tropical storm may cause all the boats to leave leaving the leaking well gushing for 2 weeks. Uncontained in two weeks it would spill out 3 times more oil than the Exxon Valdez on top of how much oil has already leaked. This will also stop the relief well for 2 weeks and could push the oil inland.

The ships will leave and there won't be any containment. I saw it on CNN. How about a quote from Thad Allen:

A hurricane would throw a major wrench into BP's efforts. Removing the flotilla of boats and cleanup equipment alone would take about five days, and it would be about two weeks before work could resume, said Adm. Thad Allen, the Coast Guard officer who is heading up the clean-up efforts.
