18 The message about the cross doesn't make any sense to lost people. But for those of us who are being saved, it is God's power at work.

I'm sorry I keep seeing reports that our country is starting to turn

around, but I honestly have not seen it in this part of the country.

I'm glad to see that it's getting better somewhere, but not in the

west. I pray sooner or later it will happen here. But I'm not holding

my breath. So no matter what I read, until I actually see it for

myself. These reports are meaningless.

You must remember, that the media, with a few exceptions like Fox, are still enchanted by Obama.

They will pick up a tiny scrap of good and make it headline news, while not even reporting the tsunami, or tornado of bad economic news.

I do not share the optimism. I believe it will get much worse before it gets better. I know of to many examples in real time.

As for unemployment figures...complete BS. That number is closer to 20% or more. You have to factor in those whom have dropped off the radar.

As for the jobs?

McDonald’s Hires 1 in 4 New Workers

FRIDAY, MAY 6, 2011 10:35 AM

McDonald's created 62,000 of the 244,000 new jobs in April. ||

You Want Fries With That Job?

Unemployment is up once again.

And of the few new jobs that this economy is producing…

25% of them come from McDonald’s.

Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 244,000 for the month.

The world’s biggest restaurant chain reported that it received one million applicants for open positions, which resulted in 62,000 people gaining employment.

There is nothing wrong with McDonald’s themselves, they are a fine company,

But after two years in office you’d expect the President to do something to create real jobs,

Not just McJobs.

First of all, there were new jobs created in manufacturing and construction too. Second, just how many jobs have all of those new Republicans in the house created? I mean, that's why they were elected, but it seems all they have done so far is meddle in SOCIAL issues. And third, I have no idea why this is coming out in bold type. I tried to change it but can't.

It was totally by chance. I googled my great-great grandfather's name. On the religious forum the topic was on Mormons in Nevada. My ancestor was the leader of the Old Mormon Fort in Las Vegas which was the first non-indian settlement in Las Vegas which was named at that time Bringhurst in which my g-g-grandpa was the first postmaster. Anyway I clicked on that topic from google and it brought up your forums. The first thing I read was Bill attacking Windsong. It was destiny.

This is what an economist has to say about the recovery so far:

Core private sector jobs are so important, because those have the potential to set off a virtuous cycle of hiring, consumer spending and more hiring. In February, March and April, this barometer of private sector vitality gained 222,000, 158,000 and 229,000 new positions, respectively. Similarly strong core private sector gains will be needed to continue adding 200,000 or more new jobs each month going forward and that would still not be enough to push unemployment down to acceptable levels.

The economy must add 13 million private sector jobs over the next three years -- 360,000 each month -- to bring unemployment down to 6%. Core private sector jobs must increase at least 300,000 a month to accomplish that goal.

Since the recovery began, the economy has been expanding at a 2.8% annual rate. This is hardly enough to hold unemployment steady, because the working age population increases 1% a year, and productivity advances about 2%. Coming out of a deep recession, growth in the range of 4% to 5% is needed and possible to get unemployment down to 6% over the next several years.
