The guys that work on these cars are amazing mechanics. I've been around them, I've talked to them, I've seen them squeeze every drop of horsepower out of an engine physically possible. It's amazing how much science these guys know and understand, they know more tricks than a PhD in physics.
Hours upon hours of work and massive amounts of money are placed in the hands of the drivers. These drivers have a natural talent for controlling their car, avoiding wrecks, and reducing damage when they're in one. You try to make a left hand turn with several other cars trying to cut you off and slam into you while maintaining high speeds. You'll probably end up in the wall very quickly.
No, I'm not a race fan, but I've been around it enough to respect it and the people involved. Yes, it's a sport. It's different than football or hockey and I would choose a bare handed prostate exam over working a race, but it's a sport nonetheless.
Great analogies and perception of the SPORT and its participants, as for the barehanded prostate exam, whew, I'm speechless.
