A couple of days ago he was homeless on the streets, but with a golden voice that he used to beg for pennies or dollars for food. Thankfully, someone drove by and stopped who didn't mutter under their breath: deadbeat, hopeless alcoholic, dopehead or worthless parasite.
Now he is hired as an announcer. Which cable news outlet hired him??? Not the one which represents the "so-called" higher supporters of charity, the rethugliteacons, Fox News.
He had no agenda like Sarah Palin or even Juan Williams.
Actions speaks VOLUMES louder than words.
Especially when it comes to helping those who the ones on this forum screen as "worthless" and unworthy. Of course, he didn' have "spinners" on an Escalade but he is black.

MSNBC Hires Ted Williams, 'Golden-Voiced' Homeless Man, For Voiceovers

First Posted: 01- 6-11 05:20 PM | Updated: 01- 6-11 05:33 PM MSNBC announced Thursday that Ted Williams, the homeless man whose golden pipes have made him a national sensation, is recording voiceovers for the network's "Lean Forward" campaign. The spots will begin airing on Thursday night.

In addition, Williams will appear on "The Last Word" at 10 on Thursday night to discuss the campaign. In a statement, MSNBC said that Williams' story "embodies the very same American ideals that the Lean Forward campaign seeks to highlight."

Williams showed off his voiceover chops when he introduced Thursday morning's "Today" show.

The MSNBC job is just one of the many offers that has flooded in since a video of Williams went viral in the past week. Among others, ESPN, MTV and the Cleveland Cavaliers have all reached out to Williams with offers.

Wow. Mr. Williams story has been an uplifting one across the board and you and the Huff 'n Puff Compost turn it into a politicized hit piece. Bravo, anuses, bravo. Yet, I don't know why I expect better from such losers. Such wasted potential... such a disappointment... Frowner

No in actuality, he was offered a JOB!!!!!!! Something the new rethugliteacons are promising but in this case wasn't delivered by the mouthpieces at Fox News! (Am using the actual name for dramatic effect although we all know it is Faux News Propoganda) And THIS is the reason for your disappointment, marksw59, that you and the thugs are being shown for the hypocrites you are. Why didn't Fox hire him????????? How REVEALING!!!!!!!!!!

No, he had a family and a good job that he tossed for alcohol and drugs. His family is not trash and seem to be pretty well off. He broke ties with them because of the drugs and alcohol.

Disclaimer: For a cause such as this I will debate a gravy bowl.

THANK GOD, the man who made the You Tube video of him on the side of the road didn't think like this gravy bowl and wasn't a rethugliteacon right wing hypocritical hater. If there is a hell (and I have hung out on the religion forum long enough to know that little Jennifer here doesn't believe in it, she is an athiest) you will burn in it. How about Karma???????????? Mad
I'm happy about his (hopefully) positive future, but the way he's being paraded around is disturbing to me - making the morning show circuit like he's a "thing" for ratings and not a person. I know he's a grown man and can say no, but he probably feels obligated to do the interviews - and I'm sure he enjoys it to an extent.

The way the media is covering the story is self-serving. If he didn't have a "golden voice" he'd be just another homeless guy.

You know, I have to disagree with you on this post. First of all, it was a good samaritan in this electronic age of cell phone camera's and You Tube who is the real hero of this story. Thank God he didn't think like some of the right wing posters to the topic I posted entitled "Challenge to southern conservatives" He didn't stereotype or look for reasons not to be of help to the less fortunate. Ted Williams side of the road video was a viral hit on You Tube immediately and although this may be politicizing it (after all this is a political forum) it is telling that Fox News is the one outlet that DID NOT have this man featured. And ESPECIALLY telling that he was offered a job by the likes of MSNBC and MTV. It bolsters the meanspirited selfish attitude about charity that is a characteristic of the Republican Party. And makes me PROUD to be a liberal Democrat!!!! Smiler

And yet another example of the Rethugliteacon way of thinking toward their fellow man. There are a variety of reasons that those who think like this should NEVER be in a position of power and I hope Ronnie P and his crowd keep making the point. Some of these are the same ones who sit in their million dollar church buildings on Sunday (and I am a Christian, just not a million dollar one) but would spit on this homeless man going home. A perfect example of the hypocrisy that is rampant in this entire party and their offspring movements.
Maybe just reading these replys will at least soften the shell of just ONE FOXOPHILE(Had to get that in here somewhere! Big Grin)

I get the charity part and that some are trying to help. I just disagree with the way they're doing it. He's only getting the publicity because of the golden pipes, not just because he was homeless and needed a job; there's no story in that.

I'm talking about the way he's being used for ratings and literally manhandled. I was watching him go from morning show to morning show this morning and saw a report on Access Hollywood tonight about how The Today Show scored the big interview and Good Morning America had to "settle" for talking to him for just a few minutes at the end of the show. Then, they showed footage of his rep. (if he has one yet), or a morning show rep., pulling him by his shirt into one of the studios and away from photographers.

He's being exploited for ratings. Why can't people do good things like offer jobs to the homeless without all the media coverage?
Buttercup,
I hope people do every day. But once again I make the point that if you read the replies of the republicans/tea partiers/kill Obama crowd on this forum then get the steady stream of hatred for those less fortunate from their propoganda machine: Fox News, something tells me that those who help people anonymously aren't republicans!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't agree with Buttercup and I hope this man keeps moving forward in his success. Either way, thanks to the efforts of a good samaritan he has a REAL chance. That and his exposure by the "liberal" lame stream media as you rethugs like to say and especially MSNBC!!!!!!!
I think the only way he'll be back on the streets is if he gets back into drugs and alcohol.

It was his poor choices in life that put him on the streets. It was his decision to kick his addictions that started his turn around. He was just fortunate to have been discovered in the way that he did.

Yes, he's the flavor of the week. This story will disappear in a week or two, but that doesn't mean he'll be back on the streets. He's got a great voice and it's gotten great exposure. He has a talent and skill that is in demand and it's something not everyone can do.

He can earn a great living cutting VOs for advertising or working for a sports team. Not everyone has a voice that works for broadcast. Those that do can't read copy in a way that sounds like it's natural. If this guy plays his cards right, he's set for life.

So you really think the reason MSNBC hired him was a good samaritan effort? You're going to college so you can't be that dumb. MSNBC's ratings suck. Someone discovered the mans voice which is a talent and made a story for themselves.

Yes, MSNBC is so generous and wanting to do the right thing. Roll Eyes A struggle between NBC and CBS morning shows delayed the reunion between the mother and son. The guy said on the TODAY show that a certain person was helping him sort through all of the offers and the shows and helping him get together -- wonder where that man's loyalty lies or who paid him the most to convince TW where to choose to go. I don't care that Fox didn't offer him a job, but to act like they are foul because they didn't jump to the media frenzy for him is a ridiculous as thinking MSNBC commentators are "journalists". All news these days is a crock regardless of Fox or NBC or CBS. Sad, but I'd trust "popeater" where this story came from more than I would most of the main news outlets.

The he will be an 'evil' rich ex homeless man.

OH I was just waiting on a reply from the right wing witch of Waterloo! Big Grin Thanks to the new payroll tax deductions enacted by the 111th congress, he will not be taxed as much as if some good samaritan had given him a chance under the Bush administration. But then again, even if someone had offered him a job at McDonald's for minimum wage he would be better off getting his break in life NOW than if he had received it a little over two years ago thanks to the raise in minimum wage.

‘Morning Joe’ cast showing signs of Ted Williams ‘golden voice’ feel-good story fatigue?

Imagine the backlash this exchange would have elicited at left-wing storefronts had it aired on “Fox & Friends.”

On Friday’s “Morning Joe,” co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski seemed a little put off by the media craze surrounding the feel-good story of homeless-man-turned-YouTube-sensation Ted Williams and the flood of offers he has received. (Partial transcript as follows)

SCARBOROUGH: Hey, uh I’m late for a meeting – I’m just going to, I’m going to see you on Monday

BRZEZINSKI: Welcome back to “Morning Joe.” Forty-four past the hour. You going to be OK? Lean forward, big buddy.

(Laughter)

BRZEZINSKI: All right, time for the must read op-eds. Bend over. All right, all right.

SCARBOROUGH: Wow. Really?

BRZEZINSKI: Yes, really. It’s called a good story. Umm huh. Yes. It’s a good story.

(Laughter)

BRZEZINSKI: I always worry about good stories, actually because they just kind of get out of hand.

On Thursday’s airing of MSNBC’s “The Last Word,” the network made it official and announced Williams would be the voice of its “Lean Forward” campaign, which seemed to have been referenced by Brzezinski going into the segment. But Scarborough suggested using the same tactic to fill a void for their show.

You know what is so funny about this post? The right wing witch of Waterloo must not know that Joe Scarborough is a Republican. He was even a Republican congressman from Florida. Now not that his show isn't fair and balanced, it once again speaks VOLUMES that MSNBC will have a show HOSTED by a Republican! How many Democrats host a show on Fox NOISE????????????

The photos you see above are mug shots, collected by The Smoking Gun, the true crime clearinghouse which has brought us all of our favorites (I’m talking about you, Nick Nolte). Williams’ problems go a little deeper than he explained. The 53-year-old has a rather lengthy rap sheet that includes busts for theft, robbery, escape, forgery, drug possession … and that’s just the Cliff’s Notes version. His relationship with Ohio jails go back two decades.

But the most troubling aspect of this is that Williams might not be the changed man he claims to be. He may have been involved in criminal shenanigans as recently as a few months ago. From The Smoking Gun:

The convicted felon’s speedy rise to fame is not sitting well with one Columbus businessman who called cops on Williams and a female companion in early-July. The man, a manager at National Tire & Battery, told cops that Williams and the woman were “refusing to leave the business property” and had become an “ongoing problem” for the business, according to a police report.

Police report here.

While Williams begged customers for money, the woman “gets picked up and dropped off in the parking lot by various and numerous males in different vehicles. The management had repeatedly asked the two suspects to stay off the property and have been cussed and yelled at by the suspects for their effort.”

Cops warned Williams and his companion that they would be arrested if they returned to the property. The businessman, who only wanted to be identified as Dan, told TSG that Williams’s newfound notoriety had left him a “little aggravated.” The man said that he had seen Williams urinate in front of the business, and watched recently as he and his female friend stripped to their underwear as they changed into dry clothes during a rainstorm.

Doesn't it just thrill your heart, right wing witch of Waterloo, to throw stones? You could just read the elation in your post to get something further on this man to bash him with.

THIS is the problem with those that think like this "witch". Kick the man a little further.
I still wonder if this would be the same treatment if he had been hired by Fox. Well no, I don't wonder, I know. For one, it is not in the nature of a Republican to have a charitable bone in their body. The so called charitable contibutions they are so proud of bragging about are largely to million dollar religious organizations and those with satellite television channels.

I was really waiting for the FOXOPHILE rebuttal. Glad to see it is from the witch of Waterloo, after all she bills herself as a "wiccan"

I believe in Christ teaching: What you do for the least of these.

Sure he was, AND a home by the Cleveland Cavaliers before MSNBC saw the propaganda possiblilties! For the record the majority owner, Dan Gilbert is a Republican businessman and founder of Quicken Loans, Rock Financial, One Reverse Mortgage and national title insurance and escrow provider, Title Source. MSNBC is using him for propaganda and YOU fell for it (big surprise).

Yeeees... how revealing... Why didn't Fox hire him you ask? Possibly because he had already been hired by a rich Republican businessman... your narrative is as always pure leftist fantasy. Grow up boy.
How long has it been since this story broke? He claimed to have been clean for 2 years or so, but he's already in rehab?!? Why go to rehab for something you haven't done in 2 years? I think someone jumped the gun on this guy. I'd like to hope differently, but. . . The dog almost always returns to his vomit. It's going to take more than the "good intentions" of a huge network to change this guy. I just hate his name is Ted Williams. I'd like to associate that name solely with the MLB slugger Ted Williams.
Also from the urban dictionary

quote:
The antonym is libtard:
Libtard
buy libtard mugs, tshirts and magnets
As repetitive as it sounds, it stands for "liberal retard."

A libtard wants to live in a fantasy world (in which life is the way that they WISH IT WAS) as opposed to dealing with life the way it actually is.

(This explains the religious fervor that many of them demonstrate when it comes to smoking pot).

The most idealistic libtard envisions a time when science/technology and Socialism will eliminate all poverty, hunger, war, disease, injustice, unemployment and prejudice. (It is a nice pipe dream but human nature will forever stand in the way of that goal).

I know Jennifer is quite adamant about being an athiest, haven't read too many positions from your alter "Tool" on this topic (come to think of it you only use that alter on the News side) but I do believe in the teaching of Jesus Christ in regards to those without sin casting the first stone. That seems like something that transcends religion and just exemplifies being a better human being toward your fellow man. It seems a lot of those who call themselves Christian and athiest could benefit from this statement.
