I thought I would post to let those know what happened when I ate there this past Sunday night. I have eaten at this location for years and mostly had good food. While standing in line, being 7th, I noticed a to go plate fixed sitting on the area where food is prepared to go. All orders in front and some behind me were filled while I waited and watched the plate. The one girl asked the boy filling orders which person's was it. He stated it was fixed wrong. So it sat there I know of 12 minutes uncovered because I timed my order. The girl reached for the plate to throw it away and the boy stopped her saying the food was still good. He took the chicken out, placed it back in the warmer. Took out the mac and cheese and put it back in the bin along with the tater wedges and biscuit. When I said something to them about it, they ignored me. That will be the last time I eat there.
What do you want? Information. What side are you on? That would be telling. We want information, information, INFORMATION.

so in all honesty what do you think was wrong with that food? the fact it was uncovered for 12 minutes? let me ask you this, have you ever been to a family reunion where everyone brought a dish? and while sitting there on the table uncovered it cooled off and yet you still ate it. sure it looks bad for a restaurant to do that in public, but when you think about it in the sense i just told you its really not that bad or that big of deal. oh and i used to work in a restaurant, not fast food, a personally owned sit down restaurant, and i know from experience. if you knew what really went on behind the scenes at times you definitely wouldnt eat out anymore, i can promise you that.
If it it still owned by the same family they are nice folks and as good owners they are going to want to know this went on so they can address it. A good manager will be glad you brought it to their attention so it can be prevented in the future...A bad one will grin, nod, pretend to agree with you and then disregard what you told him (and eventually have to look for a new job because his restaurant closed).

Because (per the Health Dept.) the food has to stay at a certain temp until served. Even if the food was in a warmer but dropped below temp-it has to be thrown out. I promise you the Health Department will pop by for a surprise inspection if this is reported to them.
At McDonalds in Muscle Shoals, I've seen employees behind the counter eating while they prepare food.
The first time I saw a woman cramming a handfull of fries in her mouth. She actually had her fingers inside her mouth, then turned around and got my food. I told the manager and she DID make the employee go wash her hands, apologized, and got me another order. There was also a time I saw an employee sneak a cookie and eat it. That time i just decided to go somewhere else. I'm sure this happens ALOT at fast food places - you just don't actually see it. I'm sure we would all be a little nauseated if we could see some of the things that happen around our food.
My first job was working for KFC, first at the Sheffield location, then at the one in Muscle Shoals. Tuesday night was livers and gizzards night. People would flip out if we ran out. One night I dropped a whole tray of livers and gizzards on the floor (which by the way, was so greasy that I had to learn to "skate" on it). Rather than face the wrath of the livers and gizzards crowd, I put them back on the tray and served them.

Point of this story: anywhere where you have a bunch of 16 years olds working, you are going to have employees exercising poor judgment.
BEST. DIET. THREAD. EVERRRR!

Seriously - I am grossed out by the fat content in most fast food and that's helped keep me from over indulging in eating it too much...

I'm less phased by the food left on the counter vs. the liver and gizzard story!!! LOL

Any way you slice it... it's better to eat at home and prepare your own food.

I'm thankful for the gloves that some employees have to wear, but they are so thin I highly doubt they prevent germs from getting through them...

*eating at home tonight for sure*

I remember the story of the society matron who planned a huge Thanksgiving dinner. The maid who brought out the turkey dropped it on her way in. The matron was unfazed. She immediately said, "Don't worry, Marie. Just pick it up, take it back to the kitchen, and bring in the other turkey."

LOL! the other turkey
I know a lady who put her cooked turkey outside on top of her car to cool so she could carve it. She didn't count on her big as a horse dogs getting a whiff of that hot bird.
Minutes later, she discovered them, each with a wing in their mouths, playing tug of war with her Christmas turkey. After wrestling it away from the dogs, (never underestimate the power of a woman who has slaved over a hot meal) she proceeded to take it to the sink to wash it off. Family members convinced her that a vegetarian Christmas dinner would suffice.

OK, I don't get this. Germs don't seep out of your hands (unless you have open wounds on them). They come from touching your eyes, nose, or mouth, or other surfaces. If you touch those surfaces with gloves on, you will still pick up the germs. If you don't touch them barehanded, you won't transfer germs. It's weird to me how soothed people are by seeing someone wearing gloves. I personally don't care if a food service person is wearing gloves; what matters is how they handling the food.

What sissies you people are. Fried chicken left out overnight is cold fried chicken for breakfast around here. But the dog gets anything that hits the floor.

when I worked at the kfc in florence, we used to love when we would find a tray of leftover chicken in the store the next morning that someone had forgotten to deal with the night before. mmmm good.

Oh yeah, you know the pot pies? The chicken in those comes from the chicken that remained at closing the previous night. We had to debone the chicken by hand and throw it in a big bucket, to be used in the next day's pot pies.

yeah, I just went with "deal with", but that is what they did when I was there.

Pot pies, bbq chicken sandwiches, several other items made with leftover chicken.
