"in the hands of the Feds now".......
Ok. Sorry. I had to take a minute to compose myself. LOL SG, if you were as smart as you think you are, you'd know that Chris Connolly has more pressing issues at hand. I think a capital murder case would probably be stamped "priority" over this one, wouldn't you think?
I mean, I'll be glad when these officers can put this behind them, regardless of the outcome, but looks like we are all going to have to wait (even YOU) to see what that outcome is. It is puzzling to me why you find it necessary to bump this thread up every couple of weeks when there really isn't anything new to discuss. Some obsessions can be unhealthy, ya know.
Since you feel the need to respond to my "obsession"...it seems as if you are just as obsessed.

What is more puzzling is your extreme desire to keep this quiet.

I'm not keeping anything quiet... believe me. There is just nothing really new that can be told to the public. Yet.
And SG.... I wonder if the video showed the officer kicking the suspect? I also wonder if there were conflicting stories in the report that was sent to the DA.
I don't know what the video showed. Has there been an internal investigation to find out? I don't have access to the report sent to the D.A., but I wish I did. It would be posted for all to see.
Here we go 'round the mulberry bush, the mulberry bush, the mulberry bush....Here we go 'round the mulberry bush...so early in the morning.......
C'mon Eastside....you know ya love it...or you wouldn't keep coming back to see us.
It keeps getting bumped to the top -- the temptation is just to great to see how many pages of spinning this will get.

I guess it WOULDN'T surprise you, SG. Now I know why you decided to post this yesterday. I guess the Chief didn't like what the internal investigation decided, huh? What does that tell you? It tells me that the internal investigation failed to show enough evidence for the PD to bring charges/terminate these officers and/or some of the "powers that be" have a personal issue with these officers. I wonder why the Chief has yet to question these officers himself? That should have happened within the first couple of days of this incident happening, shouldn't it? Oh well, what do I know? We all can't be as smart as SG. lol
It's my understanding that the internal investigation hasn't been started.
Its not like things like this don't happen.

Fired in '93 for mistreatment of a suspect. Has been a "former" cop for 17 years.
'taint over son, 'taint over...
"Other officers denied any role in torture and no other perjury or obstruction of justice charges have been announced. But U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald has said the investigation into the decades-long cover-up was continuing."
Coverup...eeekk...did it say COVERUP?

As before...it's the Chicago Political Machine...Next to Washington DC, the most corrupt city in the country...what do you expect?

Yeah. Ok SG. If you say so. Lol
After re-reading the latest article on this subject, I stand corrected. The chief stated that they had started the internal investigation but stopped it because of the A.B.I. investigation. The internal investigation hasn't been completed (as of the date of the article).
"Now I know why you decided to post this yesterday." --- IJS
You lost me there..but now you have me curious. I won't copy and paste your other comments but again, you have me a tad confused. Are you implying that "the powers that be" have it out for these officers? The actions of the Chief thus far doesn't back that theory up. I have no idea why things have or haven't been handled a certain way to this point, but it doesn't appear that anyone has thrown these officers to the wolves. Each department handles it's own problems differently.

Well, SG - maybe you don't know as much as I thought you did afterall. (unless you are trying to bait me.. lol)
Lets just say that I have reason to suspect the Cheif does have it out for these officers. Do I know WHY? No. I apologize for being so vague, but I'm sure you can understand with the investigation going on - I can't really say a whole lot. I mean, how fair would it be to discuss details not even released to the public? And let me stress that I in no way know everything regarding this case. I don't. I wasn't there. I guess from now on, when you post something that I disagree with, to avoid a senseless banter, I'll just try to keep my mouth shut. You're gonna miss me, aren't you SG? LOL

Maybe the plan involves dragging it out until the statute of limitations runs out...
I have heard it mentioned that the F.B.I. have taken over the investigation.

Not likely...even the Times Daily would have given that banner headlines.
SG... I hope you keep us all up on the newest developments, I mean, since you seem to know it all. Funny how you're making a big deal about the "feds" getting involved but I've not heard any mention of what the video shows (or DOESN'T show) or about the witnessing officers conflicting statements in the report. If you are going to post some details, why not post them all? I'm sure the chief wouldn't want everything posted though. I'm sure it will all come out eventually though - regardless of the outcome of these officers in question.
IJS,
I don't know what details you are wanting posted, but I would oblige you if I had them. Again, it's fairly obvious that YOU are privy to information that the rest of us are not. Post fact...not speculation of conspiracies against these officers. I don't see this as being some elaborate internal scheme to rid the city of two officers. Many/Most patrolmen aren't that smart or don't care enough to construct a tale of this nature and magnitude.
If there's an issue within the department that's relevant to this particular incident...then post it.

SG, I believe it was YOU that posted "what you've heard" in regards to this being in the "hands of the feds" now. Remember? Every time something new with this case happens, YOU throw out little tidbits of information and then you sit back and play dumb. Unlike YOU, I am not posting things I know because its not my place to announce details that haven't been made public yet. And of course you wouldn't see the internal scheme of what's going on and the reason being is fairly obvious. (Question... do you happen to know just how the FBI has allegedly gotten involved? I'm sure you do.)
There is no doubt an issue within the department but as I said - its not my place to expose it.

I can answer that. Around here, if a criminal Civil Rights issue has risen then the FBI would be involved. Think for a moment...the MSPD and ABI use the same DA's office to prosecute cases in Colbert County. The ABI isn't going to want anything to do with that, so, turn it over to the FBI as a Civil Rights case. In my opinion of course.

Good point dntblnk, but even if the FBI may "have the case" still doesn't mean there is any smoke to the fire. They still may look at it and it not go any further. Until this is being plastered all over the news as charges being file -- it is still just talk.

IJS,
I have no knowledge of how/why the F.B.I. got involved. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the direction that this was headed.
What tidbits of information have been thrown out by me? If I hear something, I post it....no hidden agenda, secret handshakes, code words, decoder pens....
You mentioned being "baited" in some of your posts....well of course you have been. If it pulls the facts out...then so be it. You have knowledge (clear or fuzzy) of what happened that night. You could be the husband/wife/best friend/hunting dog/pet chipmunk of one of these guys. If they felt a need to share info with you....then be "swell" and share it with us.
It's not your place to blah...blah...blah....
What have you been doing the entire time?????
The Chief this...the department that...the suspect has a history...the suspect shouldn't have rights....the po po got cursed at, spit on...these officers probably regret doing their job now and helping (and I use that term loosely)...we don't know what they go through...this guy was white, the other guy was black...there were no glazed donuts at the PD that evening...history this...history that...what does the video show...etc...etc....etc....etc....
Point being....everyone is to blame but the officers themselves. Why not just blame the paint job on the walls inside the PD? It's probably not soothing enough.
Gotta tell ya....these guys may not be charged (and I wouldn't wish that on anyone)....but for this to go the route that it has....something is to it.

If this is/was being investigated internally...how would anyone other than those handling the investigation know what was on another officers statement? If I wrote a statement...I know what's on mine and mine only. How would anyone outside of internal affairs know if there were conflicting statements?
I just noticed the "source" for this thread is a local blog. Nothing credible here, probably just another "soap opera".
The Chief basically confirmed an allegation (from within) of misconduct. The investigation is in the hands of the F.B.I. now.....only time will tell.
These are the days of our lives.

This is news to me. Do you have a credible source you can share? And if its an allegation of a violation of U.S.C.1983 the FBI will investigate it.
What part is news to you? There have been two articles published in the TD with quotes from the Chief regarding this issue.

I know there has been an allegation from within. I meant the FBI investigation. I have only heard rumors. Do you have a credible source?
Yes..multiple.

REALLY...???? Care to share?? Add just a little credibility to what is otherwise baseless verbal meanderings...??
The information is correct...but to answer your question...no, there's no need in sharing sources at this point. If you feel that I'm incorrect or have been mislead, feel free to investigate it on your own. I'm confident our findings will be identical.
Smoke and mirrors here...nothing of substance...time to move on.
That's what they want us to do...move on. Sorry, that won't be happening here.
