earthmomma ROCKS! You should get to know her, you might learn a lot. HaHa!
Amen, Gus!
I agree with a lot of what you all have said here. Another thing I dislike about the Muscle Shoals WM is the parking lot. I'm not sure what the problem is really but it takes forever to find a spot to park that isn't a mile from the doors and it is always so crowded. I have actually left and gone elsewhere before even getting out of my car many times.
If there is a product you really like, you can probably find it on Amazon. Order at least $25.00 from them, and shipping is usually free.
Once you get your Amazon account set up, it's really easy to order from them and you never have to leave your home.
Amazon is awesome! I love it.

I find it funny people always gripe about "long distances" in the walmart parkinglots.. no, none of them are a mile. Even if it was, from what iv seen, it wouldnt hurt 99% of the walmart customers to walk a mile, or 2, or 15.

As I was typing that I knew somebody would say that. Yes, I am well aware it isn't a mile. It's just a figure of speech.
Happy walking to you and yours!

I see I'm not the only one getting bashed for an innocent comment.
Wally World could care less what anyone thinks. They know that enough people care only about low prices or getting everything in one stop so quality and selection are secondary. I try to avoid the hellhole whenever possible. I have noticed Dollar General is expanding their selection.
Once again I went to Wal Mart on Saturday the 22nd, the Nathan's Hot Dogs that I mentioned in my earlier post that expired May 8th were still there!! I dug through and found a few packs in the back that had not yet reached their expiration date but being disgusted about it I just didn't buy any, will be buying my hot dogs at Foodland this week.
I mostly shop at Wal Mart & Sam's for groceries and for the things I buy they are less on most items than Foodland. I do wish we had more choices here, a Publix would be great, talking Kroger into coming back to the area would be better but I doubt that will EVER happen.

Yeah. People sometimes have very strong opinions about things I have figured out over the years online. It's usually best to let them get it out. I try hard not to take things too personally. I think I have developed a thick skin as well recently too though.
Be like teflon.

Thanks....I'm trying to develope that thick skin.
walmart decided to reduce their skus to make more money off their private label and cut costs. i heard that one of target's higher ups took over their presentation guidelines, including the decluttering.
their meat is actually purple when its first processed because it is packaged using "map" , where they seal it with nitrogen/co2 mix to preserve it longer. so the meat isn't as fresh. plus, since it looks purple because of the lack of oxygen, most of the places use dyes to make it more red and "fresh like". i LOVED the meat dept at the foodland in tuscumbia. always great cuts and service. wish it wasn't so far to drive from where i am now.

We always purchase our meat at Foodland or O'Guirre's. It is always super-fresh and the McQuire's go out of their way to make their customers happy. You just can't beat a "mom-and pop" for customer service!
Yea Walmart may be cheaper but ho much extra n do you buy that you don't even need when you go in there for specific things?
For my part I'm hoping that Publix chooses to locate a store in the Shoals area sometime soon. Publix may be a bit higher, on the surface, but with their Buy one get one free sales coupled with their much higher quality of items I would make them my first choice of any grocery chain. As for Walmart choosing to eliminate certain items, once you like them, I think they perfected that policy at SAM's stores for that has been their policy for a long time.
Would really like a Whole Foods.
Publix has more variety than Walmart as far as quality, kellogs, oscar meyer, post, pepsi, bryan, hungryman ect. os the same quality at either store
Well said Wierdo but I didn't mean common products. That was my fault for not saying so. I was referring to specific store related products that are produced or more correctly labeled for the specific store. Some would call them generic brands but I think at WalMart it's called "Great Value" (could be wrong) and each chain or store has their own specified branding. It was those product lines that I was specifying as being higher quality (at Publix), at least I think so.
Gbrk I agree and also most store brands just offer a few varieties in their brand, example in publix brand drinks they may have Black Cherry or diets beyond just simple cola where same choice would just offer basic store brand colas
I HATE Walmart!! I only go there to purchase the cat food when it is on sale. I go in the garden entrance and get my stuff and get out. I spend less on groceries when I purchase at Hometown, Aldi's, Dollar General, etc.
Have you noticed that Walmart is now stocking only HUGH boxes of cereal? If you only have a very small child or you are a single senior citizen and you are looking for a small box of cereal, you are out of luck. Go somewhere else. They apparently don't mind if you do.
